Because the modified class doesnt have a minumum weight now and any size engine. I just wanted to be somewhat competitive

Jay Brown ran in the 8s in mod this year with a ford cammer And the guy with the Green Nova was running 9.0's until it broke at Union Grove. Jays car could be faster with some actual track time.

Tightening the shock is supposed to slow the extension and limit the speed of rise, but not control amount of rise, that is strictly spring rate.
Tightening a single, adjusts both bump and extension, so yes, will make it ride stiff Doesn't the front eye location control rise? Doug Two springs, one soft, one stiff, both mounted in the same spot, will have different amounts of rise. That's about spring rate.........same as SS springs were

I`m runnin Rancho 5-ways and don`t have the lengths handy but iirc there`s 6" of travel w/2" of that being compression and the rest extension. The key is enuff comp. on the street to not bottom out and enuff ext. to not unload the tires....... that is exactly what I was thinking also but I was having a lot of rear separation looking at photos of my car at drag week now that I have leaf springs on it. Thinking if I had a stiffer shock than I wouldn't need that much either. I know all the things to do to suspension, to change rise...........my comment was directed at THIS post from Ray. To point out that shocks will NOT effect his rise or separation AMOUNT, only the rate of that action.

I understand what my car is doing and why its doing it. What I wanted to know is how much travel do I need in a set of rear shocks. It turns out that I will only get around 4.6" of travel but I would have prefered more
