Yes, that is possible but not fill the head

Maybe oil run down from the top rockers?

Doesnt exactly fill the hole head, just puddles up the exhaust side. Eric from BFNY explained this when I was asking about what oils the exhaust valve tips.

Ray be careful of the factory pans. Some came with two layers of steel sandwich with plastic in the middle.

I've merged a truck Hemi pan with a regular bigblock oilpan.

The Hemi pan was indeed dual layer steel but I didn't find any liner in between.

OK good! That info was from another site where someone tried to modify a pan. Maybe I read it wrong or he didn't know what he was doing.
IIRC he wrecked the pan.
