I drove my new to me 67 Coronet 604" Hemi 70+ miles today. It drives like a dream. 3.70 gear with an A618 trans and 315/50/15 tire is 2500 at 67mph. It should be against the law to have this much fun! 10:1 comp with a 650 lift solid roller. drive

When I got mine going this summer, it was an eye opener....Although I run a 4.10 gear with a 31" tire, its a hoot....Never really had anything this fast on the street before....Absolutely scary.

Yep! As much fun as you can have and keep your cloths on. Just be careful, mine like to try and kill me almost everytime I get into the throttle. About the time you think you've got it figured out and you think you're used to the new power it will try and take you out. You WILL find the weak links in you drivetrain.Dave

Anything past half throttle just shreds the 16x31 MT ET Streets.....I had cords showing after just a few weeks of driving. The car normally hooked anywhere....I did not get a chance to track test it. Some things needed sorting out first. They were old tires, and she will get a fresh set right before start of the race season...

I just try and gently roll into the throttle at about 30-40 mph, I've got the 315 ET Street radials and 4.56 gears. If everything works right it smokes the tire a bit and then hooks and goes straight. When it goes wrong it gets REAL ugly in the blink of an eye. At that point you really don't need belts and harness, your sphincters have a firm grip on the seat.Dave

Yeah, Big cubic inch on the street can be unpredictable sometimes. My car currently has no cage and bench seat with lap belts. I struggled with the idea but Im putting a chromoly cage in the car with harnesses! The car is replaceable or repairable but my body is not. Lol drive

I don't know how much power yours made but mine makes 810HP at 6400rpm and 790 tq 5200rpm. I know I will need tires soon also.

I am in that ball park, but it is un-track tested. My car is also lighter at right around 3000lbs, maybe less now....

The torque just rolling into it is like the space shuttle lifting off....The front of the car lifts, slams you back in the seat lurches forward really hard, and then breaks them loose as you press it further down, and then starts wandering all over the road and this is rolling at 45-55mph.....You can clearly see where it wrinkled the tires, but it left double s marks all down the road. My little 484 +640hp Hemi was never like this.... And I am still nowhere near full throttle.

The cam I have going back in adds substantial lift going from 0.680 to 0.750 and is going to take the Hp to a new level after we sort a few things out. My bench racing calculator says we are definitely going to add a bunch of hp & torque all while bringing the torque peak down 500rpm for even more fun...

Wow! sounds like fun. Mine is not track proven either but has about 2400 miles on the combo. I think it will run low 10s which I would be happy with for a full street car. I have a 65 Coronet that my 588 Hemi is going in and it should hopefully run Low to Mid 9s.

Very cool! I love these big cube pump gas street cars. I'm dying to put an overdrive in my 500" Duster but it's not affordable right now so I'm gonna remove the 3.55 gears from the 8.75 rearend and put some 3.23's in but 2.76's are not out of the question. With the torque of these motors, the 3.55 feels the same as a 4.30 gear in some of my previous cars. I have a tight 10" Dynamic converter, hoping it can handle a 2.76. Overdrive would be so nice.

I've never heard of the a618, what vehicle does it out of?

Got any pics of your car? popcorn
