Ron,
Justin explained it pretty well. The 1-2 is really a can't miss with the RVB and the forward SCS gate. The only slight downside on the 2-3 is you have to ' over and up' (against the detent spring) no big deal it terms of time ti shift...but it's worth it for peace of mind hitting the ( harder and more critical to execute) 1-2 as hard as you want. As a lot of us know you can possibly 'shift past 3 and hit the '1-3' if you hit it just slightly askew with the scs rvb gate.
The ppp and similar shifters look cool, its almost like the scs/winters style gating layed over on it's side.
I like the double neutral of the PPP, thats one of the disadvantages of a conventional RVB, you cant go from high to N without downshifting through the gates.

OK Ben thanx but still don't understand whats the difference whether front or rear entry. Isn't the travel distance P to R to N etc. at the lever the same whether front or rear entry? I just don't get it logically (;-))
