I think some 1/8th mile bracket racing will make you a better 1/4 mile bracket racer. All the decisions happen quicker.
It makes me laugh when conditions get ugly and they cut a event down from 1/4 to 1/8 mile and a bunch of guys get thier underwear all in a knot.

1/4 mile..... and why beat the crap out of your engine for another 25 to 30 mph?? because I CAN!! and if you run 100 mph you would love 130 mph and if it's all because of easier on parts and less $ then why even race in the first place just go get ice cream.......

I set my car up for 1/4, so when I started racing 1/8, I wasn't using 4th gear much. I guess either would be fine, although I prefer the high speed cruise of the 1/4. Maybe, like the Pro's, 1000ft would be a happy medium. I wish it was at least an option to try for a while.

No choice for me, 1/8 only tracks in my area. I have never made a 1/4 mile pass.

A win light is a win light. Only cause I'm cheap, I've kinda got to like the 1/8th . Less wear and tear, and fuel. I am not going to call you lazy, but I know one of the other reasons is you only have to drive 1/2 as far I have seen you win either way

in my area,i have a big high end 1/4 mile track 20 miles away, oil downs take a hour to clean up,they run there program till 3am,or 4 am,they allways change things up so you don't know whats going on race to race, have a 1/8 mile track 70 miles away, small, great people and freins, never no oil down, great fun,i much rather go to the 1/8 mile track than the big hi end rich playboy track anyday and less hard on parts

I am a test and tuner and drag week guy more than anything, i don't race as much as I would like to. But I am 1/4 miles all the way, I have done a very small amount of 1/8th mile stuff and its OK but if my track options suddenly went 1/8th mile my jeep might get more attention than it does now lol.
I like to hear motors doing work, the pull in high gear is where its at for me.

Won't waste my time going 1/8 mile racing you still have to drive all the way to the end of the track to turn around so how is it any faster I think that's just bs I'll stay home before I'll drive more then 10 mins to race 1/8 mile So I guess you have never raced on a small 1/8 mile outlaw track with a short shut down. But I have to agree with you on driving to the end of the track when racing 1/8 at the big tracks. It's a problem when racing at Bristol. The bracket series at Bristol is 1/8.

As my car gets faster, I am starting to like 1/8 mile more. I go from 0-130mph in the eighth and only gain another 30mph out the back door. Much more excitement with launching and shifting in the eighth then just holding the steering wheel to the quarter.
