I just found out that Saturn Surplus has sold their complete line of M880 parts to AMS Obsolete.

AMS Obsolete is the new name for Mitchells Auto Parts. They sell under the name fmmpr on eBay. The parts will be for sale, but the prices will most likely be out of the world.

It was nice to be able to order an obscure 70's truck part and not pay through the nose. My guess is now everything will be gold plated pricing, and listed as LRE

Mitchell, really? If I was still with trucks, I'd be humming American Pie about now...

Reminds me of the time a buddy of mine told me to get over to Great Lakes Naval Base as they were going to dispose of all the M880 parts. I messed around for a couple of weeks then called him back ready to take a look-see. In that time they had a scrapping company come in and scrap it all! bawling

I refuse to buy from Mitchell or his affiliates
I'll stick to swap meets,Ebay sellers other places on the web

If that NOS stepside tailgate was the last one earth & I needed it for a show truck
I'd build one using a refrigerator door

C'mon man don't sugar coat it! Tell us how you really feel! LOL Many of us feel the same way, I'm a little surprised he's managed to stay in business all these years.

Uh, Frank IS dead, y'all know - dunno who's running the show over there but he croaked a few years back. But if the same pack of gougers is running the place, well, I don't need anything they sell THAT badly that I can't do without.

Was that the guy this summer at Carlisle show, with the "NOS" step side tailgate?

I was going to say....I seem to remember that name as not being in such good standing around here. I didn't realize that he was dead, though.

Did Frank sell shoes and jewelry and such?

If not, his namesake does now.

Seems kinda appropriate that they sell a line of athletic shoe with the word 'thief' in the product name.

So none of you guys make a profit on part/truck sales? I have bought from Frank and I have found no lies about his parts. I have had a bunch of people buy from me and most would buy from me again- with the possible exception of the ones that expect something for nothing. There is a market for high end parts and cheap parts. But "thief"??? I have spoke to Frank quite a few times and "NEVER" has he stolen anything from me. However after some "buyers" have gone home and did not buy anything-a few items have been missing. Of course they fit into your " I can't afford " catagory.

The Mitchell Motor / FM Mopar on eBay were deceptive at best.

My one and only time I purchased from them it was straight up bait and switch. They showed a NOS set of 78 Lil Red tai lights a one year only part. In the vintage boxes with a 1979 date code.

They were not cheap.

They shipped current production Grote tai lights that were very similiar but not NOS correct.

You decide on their business practices.

My one experience with buying from Mitchell parts was back in the late 1980's.

I bought a set of NOS Hemi spark plug wires.
I installed them and the thing has several cylinders that weren't getting any spark.
There were several bad plug wires in the set.

When I Stopped by their store (during the Mopar Nats) I was told " These plug wires are for restoration purposes for appearance only. They're not for cars that run and get driven. No refunds or exchanges."

The fact that they were sold to me as working plug wires meant nothing to them

Needless to say I never bought from Mitchell Motor Parts again. flame

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

It was a sad day when Frank's building full of NOS parts burned to the ground, he got a nice insurance check for it and left the Mopar world with much less vintage parts, that is all I am going to say about that... flame

DRMO at JBLM (FT Lewis) still has a few M880s laying around. The M880 series was the precursor to the HUMMV. Back in the early 80s Ft Lewis had the largest population of the M880 series vehicle. There were numerous versions. Of course they were all 24V.
