I had the chance to talk to the Holley rep at the show and got a very cool demo on the unit. Very impressive. Also the new Hot Rod magazine has an article towards the back of the issue with some more info. When I get a chance, I'll dig through the 2 milk crates worth of info I picked up and add some more information to this. One thing, yes its not cheap, but its less than spending big coin on a fabbed and heavily baffled tank. Pick your poison. What is the price range for the hydramat setup? I looked at some of those Vapor works tanks and they would be over $3000 for me by the time I got it sent up to Canada.

You can get baffled EFI style tanks for fairly cheap on some of our vehicle these days. 70 Challenger, Spectra EFI tank $400 for example. http://ecat.spectrapremium.com/prod/CR8BFINo A body stuff though

Price depends on size. The big one thats in the magazine is like 700, smaller ones are less. They have many different sizes and shapes. Squares, rectangles, crosses. They use either npt thread or a/n. They are the same material that is used on oe pump units, filters down to 15 micron. On the display demo, any area that it touched in the tank, it pulled up fuel. You can have part of it in the air and if its in fuel elsewhere, it pulls fuel. On the ARCA test car, they drained the fuel out of the cell, pulled out the foam, put 1 gallon into the 22gal cell, ran it 4 laps on a 1/2 mile track with 33* banking, let it sit running for 5 minutes at the top of the banking, ran 4 more laps and never lost fuel pressure at any time. They are also doing their version of the Phantom pump which looked like an easier, less hassle install than the Phantom. They offer a 255lph & 400lph, in return or returnless setup. Comes with hydramat on it. They use 1/4 npt threading. Pretty darn impressive in my book. You don't need a baffled tank. Its going to make my project much easier when I make my tank.

apples/oranges. Spectra tank comes with pump and sending unit, Tanks Inc doesn't. If, I say if, Spectra makes an EFI tank for your application it's a cheaper package deal. Tanks Inc, tank $245, sending unit $35, pump $220 (255lph matching Walbro pump in Spectra tank). So $500 versus $400, in my case is $500 vs not available.

So the current HR mag article on the Hydramat says it is held in place by internal magnets, I guess that is important to keep from shifting, maybe curling, and to recover every drop of fuel. Another solution needed for SS and molded? tanks? Article also says retail? cost is $700? for largest mat, which is likely not needed for our applications. Still expect future price dropping, all of the cost is as I see it, was in R&D and now profit, can't be that expensive to mass produce a plastic in this form.

They have magnets for steel tanks and another package for other than steel. Should cover all bases. And I hope the cost comes down too.

Jegs has in stock 15x15 Hydramat for $269?, if it works its a slam dunk. I'm going to try it. Anybody hear about E-85 use with it?

I sell lots of them to the off road crowd. The crawlers and bouncers love it. They make a huge dual pickup pad that should cover all bases and power levels. Call me if you need one, I can definitely beat Jegs on price.

Can't nail Holley down on a GPH, but for guys over 800-900, i wouldn't recommend it for the main fuel pump pickup. I do recommend it for the surge tank pickup. In that capacity, for us guys that turn right and left, or drag racers using EFI, it will be awesome.
