There is only two ten bolt round covers,Dana 35 which is 10 5/8" wide and not actually round and has an indented cover and GM 2 series 10 bolt that is 11" wide.

So it is a 8 1/4?

Should I swap it for another?

Can you post a picture? That would remove all questions (for most)...

Well I did post a picture of the cover. And the "plug" on the picture cudaboy posted was on the cover. So I think got that "covered" laugh

This forum is very helpful most of the time but sometimes it feels like some things are beeing overlooked (by myself as well). Combined with my english skills, things are getting confusing.

I try to make some pictures from the side and front. I think my exhaust will be in the way. But I'll get it done.

Maybe it is just a normal 8 1/4 (why shouldn't it) with a perfekt round cover, which jut out the flat bottom. The only thing that bothers me with that theory is, that the screw should be higher.

well i measured a 8 1/4 chrome cover i have and it is about 12 inches wide and about 10 3/4 inches tall give or take. not as round as i thought it was. if yours is 12 inches round then I don`t know what you have. i would see if you can get any numbers off the housing to help id. sorry for misleading you because I called it round when it really wasn`t.

no problem. I think everybody is a bit confused.

Here are pictures from all sides:

back/cover: http://abload.de/img/dscf2062jxshx.jpg
driver side: http://abload.de/img/dscf2063e2sum.jpg
passenger side: http://abload.de/img/dscf2064bhsg0.jpg

My dad seems to have a GM 10-bolt axle and somehow it looks identical. But the two round holes left and right from the cover are smaller and further away.

I don't know if it is important but as you see, the shocks are mounted under the leafs and not on the axle.

Sorry Paddel, I missed the picture. And by the way, your English is very good. Sure looks like a GM 10 bolt, but what it's doing under that Newport is a head scratcher. Any numbers on it? Is that a tag attached to the bottom bottom bolt?

Can you measure the distance from the top center bolt to the bottom center bolt? I have a 8 1/4 out in the garage and other then the cover it looks a lot like yours. Vent tube location, brake line location, etc. How many bolts are holding the pinion snubber? Mine has two parallel to each other.
