I completed the installation and everything is working just as it should.
It is NOT a bolt in swap and plenty of mods need to be made, but it was done without any mods to the car at all.

If anyone is interested or looking to do the install, I could provide step by step photos and instructions. I am very happy I did it and racing is so much better without worrying about granading 3rd gear again.

Looks very nice. I also really enjoyed the expose on your wiper arms.

The the shift relocated you were able to clear the torsion bar crossmember, correct?

What clutch were you running when 3rd gear was giving you troubles, out of curiosity.

Very, very nice car. I commend you for beating on it!

Thanks Jeremiah,

I was able to avoid the t crossmember...I only modified an extra tranny support and used a Ford (sorry:) ) tranny mount because it was the shortest one I could find. Pretty minor mods to the tranny support.

I was breaking 3rd gear with the TKO600 tranny and Spec Clutch (great clutch, by the way. Great tranny for the street, but not drag for my car, anyway.

After almost 30 years of owning this Charger, I am having the most fun with it now.
Greg.

I'll be very interested to see how it all works out for you. I am taking one shot at an aluminum, face plated/9310 gear a-833 with my new nitrous combo and if that breaks it might be Jerico for me too!

Keep us posted!

I was at the track about a month ago and with just preliminary clutch adjustments, I matched my best et and mph in bad air. I am going to Mopars at E-town in 2 weeks to run it again. So far, I am loving this tranny and the effortless shifting. I'll keep you posted.

Very clean install. It doesn't look like you had to make any tunnel mods at all. I also am running a Liberty Gears prepped and face-plated 18-spline A833. I'm sure it will puke itself eventually, so I'm book marking your pics for future reference. I'm about 3500 lbs and 650 ft-lbs thru a 10" soft-lok clutch. Are you running a Long V-gate shifter or an H-pattern?

Love your car and the color, I'm partial to silver as well.

Thanks 6Pak2go.

No I didn't have to make any mods to the tunnel or body at all. I am using a Long H=pattern shifter that works very very well. much different design than the Hurst (although I like the Hurst). I have many many pics if you ever need.

Hi Greg,
Nice install. The Jerico is like magic. I think you will love it for years to come. I had the same long shifter in the vert. I would have put it in the barracuda, but it was faster to get the in-line shifter in. It took me a long time to get used to that, and after driving both, I still like the H pattern better.
Good luck
Greg

Thanks Greg....are you going to be at the Mopars at Etown on Aug 23? If so, I would love to talk to you and check out your car.

Did you buy a new Long shifter specifically for the jerico in a Mopar or...? I currently just took the TKO 600 out of my 70 RR 6pak stock eliminator car and have been debating the shifter placement debacle... Thanks for the pics!

There is very limited info out there on Long shifters used with the Jerico tranny in Mopars. I really couldn't find out anything at all. After looking at all the models through pics, I finally settled on a Long HB 1000S ...it is actually for a Richmond tranny. But after fabricating all new shift linkages and a minor modification to the shifter itself, it works perfectly installed in the B body. Since it had to be moved so far up front (to avoid cutting the floor and tranny x-member, the shift linkages had to be extremely short. I even had to cut the shift levers on the tranny and re-clock them in a different orientation so that the geometry was correct. I also had to slightly move the rear shifter stop bolt so that it only contacted the 1st and 3rd shift so that I was able to get reverse to fully engage.
After alot of planning, the mods were actually pretty straightforward.

I am very happy with this shifter. It is effortless on this tranny.

Just an update...The Jerico performed flawlessly and i got a new best et.
10.90 at 126. Still getting comfortable with it and as long as I chew off a little et each time, i'm happy. The Long shifter was a definite right move.

Congratulations on the new best. You have a 10.50 in there at that mph. How was your 60'?
Isn't the jerico like magic?

Nice times! I was kinda in the same boat but I bought the Gforce G101a but had to cut the floor. I haven't had it to the track yet but soon. I was just wondering what clutch your using and bell housing. Thanks

Thanks Greg... Looking forward to seeing your cars in the future.

Cape: I use the Lakewood scattershield, and McLeod Soflok clutch. It definitely takes the violence out of the gears and should help with longevity a ton. That is one nice tranny (the G-force). I was also looking at that, but just didn't want to cut thr floor. Very stout unit.

Best of luck with it. BTW, what clutch do you have?

I have the soft loc to but had to take it out as the disc had hairline cracks around the input shaft area of the disc. So I gotta talk to McLeod about it as there's only 5-10 runs on it and a couple miles on the clutch. I'd like to talk to you sometime about the soft loc and see how you have yours set up Mine never felt right from the first time I had it out. So right now I have a centerforce Dyad twin disc in it. I haven't been to the track yet with the transmission so I have no times to tell. Thanks

I just installed mine and set it to 8 turns with no counterweight. I drove it around the streets for about an hour and it felt just fine. Actually, alot more streetable than I thought it would feel. Than at the track, I had to abort the first run after about 3rd gear as it was slipping too much. I tightened it up eventually to 10 turns and it is performing real good now. I did add small counterweight and ran 3 runs with it. I might try to back off to 9 turns next track outing.

I don't know...maybe yours had a defect or something not right. are you sure you had the adjustments all even around the p plate? Just asking. You can pm me if you want for my number.

Good luck,
Greg.

Jerico...gotta love those Ford Toploaders! I'm amazed that someone hasn't gone off on the tranny like they do on Glides and TH400s.

Ford also made an overdrive 4th Toploader during the '70s.

For the money, nothing will beat a Jerico. Super strong until 800 horses or so.
Very nice install !!

I was wondering what's your engine combo, rear gear and power your putting out? Those are nice times for a heavy car.

The engine is a stock block with main studs-line honed, decked, bored to 4.350 with 440 source rotating assy. Comes in right at 10.4 compression.
Edelbrock Rpm heads just cleaned up a little by me and a Victor portmatched intake. Cam is a Comp 640-648 (w/ 1.6 Harland sharps) at 268-272 dur at .050" degreed at 106 . I run a 1050 dominator 2 circuit conversion. It has Hooker super comps 2" headers.

4.30 rear gear with MT et drags 28/11.5 - 15 rears.

Thanks for asking.
