That "Guide" is full of un-facts. And isn't a guide for much of anything.

I've heard that about the guide. A plausible explanation nonetheless; available early 69, dealer installed, and canceled due to lack of interest.

On the flip side, it may be a bit short sided gathering "facts" completely from marketing literature. As in, see here, it's not pictured in this brochure, so it NEVER happened.

A little more digging, the guide seems to correlate with the 1969 Chrysler Passenger Car Parts Catalog.

The covers appear there, again 1969: 22-01-42, COVER, Wheel, w/14" Wheel, w/Dome, R = Belvedere line only, part number 2881773.

Since wheel covers were shipped from the factory in the trunk & should have been installed before delivery at the dealership. The wheel covers or wheels/tires that a customer actually received DO NOT have to be the ones originally spec'd or intended. If it made the sale, those fancy '68 Fury wheel covers could've been substituted in place of hub caps on a brand new '69 Road Runner.

The '69 style b-body square turn signal indicators were used on Road Runner/GTX cars early in the model year, at some point (because the driver cannot see the passenger side indicator over the STANDARD/N96 Road Runner/GTX hood) '68 model year versions were used. Was it a running change on all '69 Plymouth B-bodies? Fender mounted turn signals were NOT available on '69 Dodge B-bodies with the N96 "RAMCHARGER" hood.

Looking more into the Chrysler Passenger Car Parts Catalogs, I see

The wheel covers showed up in 1967 as part number 2823028 and were used on the Belvedere and Fury lines.

In 1968 the cover changed to part number 2881773 and were again on the Belvedere and Fury lines.

In 1969, it was the same part number, 2881773, but in 69 they were spec'd for the Belvedere line only.

I'm now more comfortable that the two remaining wheel covers, 2881773, that came in the truck of my original, complete, numbers-matching 69 Road Runner have a solid chance that they were either shipped in the truck from the factory and/or were dealer installed before delivery in early 1969.

Unfortunately, my broadcast sheet is gone.

Good info on the signal indicators

Interesting. I've always wondered why they changed back. I have a 69 GTX convertible registry and noticed that the change over was somewhere between the end of Sept and beginning of Oct. as my Dad's GTX has a SPO date of 10/3/68 and has the bullet style turn signal indicators but my friend Paul's GTX who's was built the end of Sept. has the square style.

Nice article. My new RoadRunner came with Firestone Wide Oval redlines too. I always liked my bullet turn signals. It made me feel like they made the car look more expensive or classy.
