go ahead to your steel supplier and get a price quote on 1 5/8 DOM ,before writing off the kits, I just got quoted 179 for 21 feet of DOM. John

Does it have to be DOM? I have read the rule book and didn't see where it says it has to be DOM. Am I wrong on that? Jim

No it doesn't have to be DOM. Any kit you buy from Chris Alston or Competition Engineering isn't going to be DOM.
If you going to spend the extra money for DOM you might as well use 'Moly instead.

No just with DOM you can get .120 wall ewr is .134 and schedlue 40 is .140, ewr was quoted 120 a stick. John

We paid $179. for my sons bar but there was about $50. shipping which made it about $230. with shipping and its a Comp Engineering bar. Ron

You have to look around, I bought DOM for hardly any more money then ERW. It was another 70% more to get moly... But if you're looking for tight finish, you need to bend them yourself.
