The head is reality.
Buddy and I talked to the product engineer yesterday afternoon.
The head was recast, and is available with a full CNC port, and can be bought that way with roller springs if desired.
They added meat in the recast( really went back almost to the drawing board)
Heads have actually now been produced, and will be available next month for purchase.
He expected to have real world " not happy" numbers in the next 7-10 days.
Expects the full CNC version to flow 350 ish peak.
Vendors will have pricing very shortly.
As I said, they have now got some of these heads in inventory, but won't sell them direct.
They are revamped, a reality, and mighty quick will be in customers hands.
SWEET.......

No more maybe's
They are on the shelf and have been made.
He told us they were not happy with how the head initially worked, and much time was spent re inventing the thing.
Initially it wasn't to be offered fully ported. Part of the rework was casting more meat.
We didn't discuss all available options, but I do know two options are a ready to run flat tapper or roller Full CNC port head, fully assembled.

If 350 CFM=700 HP I would just use a 5.9 magnum block, they can take it. Most guys will never make the max out of them anyhow. If you are really really going to push the true maximum out of them then yes it would be nice to find a better block.

How come the AMC guys can have an AL block but not the SB mopar? Someone send a siamese R3 block to china and have one made in aluminum pleeeeeese!

Awe shucks! Valve angle is 2 degrees different! I wonder if I can use my pistons as is, change the valve pocket a touch or do I need new pistons? If they are gonna move it you would think they would move it enough to make a big difference, or maybe 2 degrees does?

If this is true the timing may be good for me...

IF that head can go 350, I would bet 750 would be easily attainable.
That is a bigger head than a W5 by a good bit, and I know those can support 700, based upon on track results/ mph/ weight.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

My guess is that they'll spend the money and not [censored] because it doesn't look like an oem piece.

Well if the cnc ported ones come in at an honest non-inflated 350 cfm a good hand finishing is usually good for an extra 15-20 cfm so even though my 360-1's are coming around I may have to get a set to play with

1970 Duster
Edelbrock headed 408
5.984@112.52
422 Indy headed small block
5.982@112.56 mph
9.42@138.27

Livin and lovin life one day at a time

I think it will probably take hand finishing to get them to 350. Just a guess on my part.
I was excited they redid them so they could run a cnc program on them and offer them fully ported.
Initially they were only going to be offered basically " pocket ported"
It speaks well of Edelbrock they decided to not put these out until they were right

We bugged him about that. But no dice. He said vendors will have pricing shortly.
I am hoping a set can be had fully ported and setup up to run a roller for 2500 or so. I hope I am not optimistic.
Even if in that neighborhood, you will still need an intake( super victor) and rocker gear( which we forgot to get into with him about)
I am pretty sure w5 headers will bolt up.

Re: the block question...Pontiacs also have aftermarket blocks available. Again, I think it's because the Pontiac nuts don't pi$$ and moan about price.

Looks like you could get pontiac or AMC around $4300 ready to assemble? or roughly the same as an R3+correcting issues.

That's sucks Edelbrock builds a cylinder head that should make descent power and no blocks to put it on The Ritter block would have sold out fast if he just would had the machine done right the first time now it's just a waste of time and money It's to bad MP won't sell the old cores of the R blocks to someone like Dart that could cast some up Not everyone wants to build a new Gen 3
