That block has got to be heavy as a mack truck. Looks like you could punch it out to 4.5 and save a lot of weight.

But almost hate taking out do big just to save weight? Need to weight it to see what it is
Still semi worried about the main web. It is bigger than the standard rb block but not as big as the 230 b block

that is actually a marine block, I have had a few over the years, never seen a new one. the mains are not usually the problem . if you look at the side of the block it has extra ribs cast into it like a marine block which 1st run hemi's did not have. our s/s hemi engines back in the day with stock blocks used to split down the outside length roughly 1 1/2" to 2 " below the deck. this block should not have a problem, it also seems to have much thicker walls according to the sonic test. does it have a casting date? I would also install main studs and have it line honed.

Jimi, did your marine blocks come with the Hemi caps and machined for the side bolts? I have a marine block and it has the bosses cast into the insides of the pan rail, but it is not machined for side bolts and has regular caps on it. Mine doesn't have a casting number on it anywhere.

Did you run those blocks in SS with a MW? I was wondering if the side bolts would be legal in SS on a MW engine?

There are no casting dates or stamps on the block, on the front there is a 6 cast in the block that is it

I've got a set of Breweres, they have way smaller port window than B1 MC's I once had flowed in the same bench, and they flowed better. Perhaps not the worlds best heads, but should move the C-body once sorted out.

Speaking of oddball Hemi blocks, have any of you seen one of these? Notice the casting number

I believe that was the fueler block cast only in 1970. They were supposed to have beefier features than a regular Street Hemi block, maybe had the pearlitic iron main caps, etc. I'd have to dig out the old white DC book to read up on that block.

This should be the D5 block with extra space for pushrods (because of the D5 valve angle).
See attached pics (red block has cast no 3577430-2) and compare with the repro MP hemi block.

only one had hemi caps the others had provisions but regular caps, yes you can use the "hemi" cap block in stock.

mprhound, did you ever get that block onto a scale? I'm guessing 275#

I would like to find a D-5 block to go with the heads and rockers I have.

Not yet, in the middle of finishing a new house. So the cars got put on hold for a bit until I finish the move. Took the block to my machinist, one less thing to move.

Is that block worth something to someone doing a vintage Nascar restoration? I'd look into that, try to get enough to buy a modern race block.

Would trade for a modern 4.500 bore block. Any takers?
