The tape comments are cute, but the people working with me are perfectionist, and tape is not good enough lol.
Thank you 6bblFLASH, and Andy. I will be buying a kit today.

Please don't get any paint on those fancy valve covers. You have to keep those pretty to impress people at the car shows. Lol

I bought a set years ago from Mancini to keep dirt and things out of a stored engine.

I am in the process of painting an engine and i can not find my paint kit. Does anyone know where to buy one of the kits these days? It includes all of the little plastic pieces to cover the ports and holes so paint does not go into them. Makes clean up a breeze. Thanks in advance I've never used a kit before.. what comes with them and what kind of price tag

Thanks in advance I've never used a kit before.. what comes with them and what kind of price tag Sorry it took so long for a reply, i have been in the hospital. The kit included precision cut hard plastic that was cut into the shape of every hole that needs to be covered for paint. It came with plugs and plastic screws to hold all the pieces on. Using the kit eliminated all of the overspray in the cylinders and places like that. I still have been unable to find one. If anyone can tell me where to buy one that would be great. And they were like $20 or so before.

You make a good point 71bird. And this person is actauly painting a small block this time, not a HEMI. Its hard to believe that none of these kits still exist?

All jokes aside, a little masking tape and a razor blade and you can be just as precise as one of those kits you describe. Doesn't take that long either...I do all mine that way.

Thank you Chip. It appears that this will be the method taken. Thank you everyone for your input, including the jokers lol.

Ive never seen a kit like that, Id sure be interested in one if anybody figures out where to get one, just for storage would be nice, paint also although Im usually not so picky on that. I think Dorman or Pioneer may sell the paint plugs for assembling motors, I use old spark plugs, painters tape and masking paper I've never really given a fat rats butt about what other people think of the way my cars look as long as there seeing the tail lights when we compete
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
