The original tech article was written by me for the SIAC All American Racer magazine in about 1985. It has been revised a few times now as the knowledge base grows. Were you even born yet in 1985 there Mr quik 77??? I don't see where any one is called an expert... I could keep the what has been learned to myself, but instead I share it so people can paint expensive paint properly. If you have nothing positive to contribute please go away.

If you want the 88% correct textured finish you must use DDL9355 Lacquer. 88% correct because the texture additive changed slightly from the orig. If you want the catalyzed, semi-gloss, smooth sheen finish enamel it's DCC9355...
I have a quart can of the original texture additive, which I bought back in the 70's for just such an occurence. It is a powder, as I recall.
Unfortunately, a very nice and knowledgeable PPG tech, named Heather, tells me that there is another important ingredient that is no longer available, plus the original toners are no longer available.
Are there any paint "nerds" (no offense) that have some of the old toners so that we could make some "real" organisol, or is that an unrealistic goal. As I recall, the amount of texture additive is quite a small percentage of the mix, so this quart can could make quite a bit of organisol. Or maybe 92% organisol.
I have, as well, a quart of unopened organisol which was also mixed up in the late 70's. But, since the shelf life is 3 or so years, it will have to go to a toxic chemicals collection site.......or eBay

Calm down, Your one liner didn't sound good about the expert. I also took it as a downer remark toward Tom. Sorry just my opinion. Now put it behind you and carry on.

Tom has been doing this stuff for quite a while and I for one value his experience and willingness to share what he has learned. Its very simple... If you don't want to do it the way Tom has suggested.. don't do it that way.... Belive me, Tom won't care what you do. Tom has outlined a method that has worked well for him. Take it as that.
