Outstanding topic. What about engines with roller tappets? Skip the "cam break in" on a roller cam. fire it up and drive it hard.

What do you suggest for break-in oil? I use Joe Gibbs Driven break in oil BR-30. The performance shop I go told me not to use a synthetic oil for a couple of oil changes. It is too slippery so the rings won't break in properly.

If the cam is already broken in then let that tiger off the chain Mike I think synthetic oil is a waste of money in our cars I just stick to a good oil like Brad Penn or Joe Gibbs 10-30 Gus

Ain't nothing there that's gonna "get stronger" after a few hundred miles. Once the cam is broken in, drive it like it was intended (hard!)
