Seats are in, look very nice but the back seat is faded in comparison if you look close. I might do the rear seat as well but will defer till springtime once I get a good look at it in the sunlight. The fronts were REALLY faded, you could see the color difference under the seats trim pieces.

No build sheet in seats front or back nor did I find one under the carpet though I limited myself to looking under the carpet by pulling the scuff plates and lifting the carpet up. Could be on under the console but I doubt it. LA built cars are notorious for not having build sheets so I'm not surprised. I did find an odd clear plastic bag with a rubber band around it under the carpet though.

Dropped the steering column and after driving the coupler pin out pulled it back and changed the upper PS box seal. Was actually less trouble than I thought it would be.

Noticed the Parking brake handle was missing, one on order.

Have to dink around with the horn buttons, don't think they are working. Have the "pad" assembly in the house to get nice and warm before I start fiddling around with 40 year old plastic.

e-brake handle in and on.

Roll pin was too small so I just reused the original.

I swear the car hates me and resents being yanked out of its slumber.

I will however not be thwarted.

Car is running proper and sounds great!

Had a number of problems under the hood. Changed out the valve guide seals, VC grommets, water pump gaskets, one intake valve, valve springs, spark plugs and one plug wire. Starter was weak/slow so swapped out. New PS shaft seal.

Engine was painted wrong color (orange) which I painted back to Mopar blue. Still need to get right air cleaner, new plug wires and do a lot of scrubbing. Alternator spacers are wrong, correct ones on order.

Need to do fuel lines tonight as several are in tough shape.

Keep this nice thread going! One of my favorite chysler body styles. I had a really decent '72 satellite that was an old lady car and foolishly sold it to get a basket case '69 charger. Still wish I had that car:0 You are doing a great job on this one. Keep at it and you will have a really nice cruiser/survivor!

Road test!

Speedo cable howls and the timing is off a touch but the brakes and ride are smooth and the steering is tight. Nice and quiet tooling down the road. Time to address a few more issues before putting it away for the rest of winter.

Very cool tooling down the road with the AM radio playing, heat kicking and the 383 just burbling away.

Had yesterday off so had the chance to swap out plug wires and start working on the dash.

Edit- While doing the plug wires cleaned the block and verified it is the original motor, cool beans.

Need to-

Pull and test dash speaker, rear and fader control works fine.

Pull dash pad to replace with NOS unit.

Lube speedo and cable (noise on road test, might as well do both since cluster has to come out anyways)

What a PITA. Have the glovebox, ash tray base and dash top out. Speaker is unscrewed but can't reach plug without pulling cluster. Looks like cluster won't come out till column is dropped again.

I'll take some pics for reference in a few days, everything in the dash looks unmolested if slightly dusty.

Gah, now I know what the dash pad has not been done before.

What a Pain In The Butt.

Cluster is out as is dash pad. Hopefully tomorrow I will test the dash speaker to see if it is good or not and lube the speedo cable and speedo. I'll also get on the horn to Herbs and get the gold paint for the dash.

Now is time to change out the dash speaker if bad. Unbolting the speaker is easy enough but getting at the plug is almost impossible with the cluster in place.

Speaker is bad, open circuit.

No one makes a replacement, have to send it out to MI to get rebuilt.

You did it the harder way. It's easier to take the whole thing out and work on it on a bench or horses.

I considered it, but I wished to disturb as little as possible.

Done worse jobs, heater and evap cores on my Dodge Ram come to mind.

Just takes a bunch of patience.

I replaced my dash pad the same way you did...difficult to get that last bolt to the far left wasn't it!! ...Took a while for the skin to grow back too!!..

Was not to bad, I have a wide section of 1/4" extensions and was able to snake it right up there. Going back together might be a different story! I'm sure there will be lots of dum-dum on sockets and magnets deployed.

Slow going but getting there- Dash pad is back in, lubed the speedo head and cable, polished the gauge lenses and have the cluster back in place. One of the much difficult assemblies I have ever worked on! Lots of patience is called for.

Only thing left to do is get the heater controls and radio back in place along with the steering column.

All back together. Still need to swap out steering wheel and lube blower motor. Road test tomorrow!
