The MSD 6 HEMI controller could likely be made to work but you might have to do some juggling with the reluctor wheel and coils (put 6.1 stuff on the 6.4 and lock out the cam). Have you read through the Gen III thread at the top of the Race Section page? To me this would be the cheapest but still not cheap

Yes, read the whole thread... Only thing about the 6.4 that is talked about is the intake... Would like to keep the VVT if possible...

What about using the factory computer(s) to control it? I would think that would be an easier place to start, plus cheaper when you buy a whole wrecked car. Does someone have access to the programming to remove programming you don't need (like cats, etc)?

I got a new crate engine already... so wouldn't even know a exact application to get a PCM and harness from... From what Ive read there was a lot of variations...

You are doing what I would like to do (except I would like to use the NAG1), I will be following along with what you find and make work

If you want to keep the VVT then keep it injected, that would be the easiest

I was thinking about the stock 6.4 PCM out of a stick car or truck, use all the stock components, but not sure how to connect to 71 wire harness, maybe need a speed sensor for the fbw throttle body. Seems the cheapest way to me unless I'm missing something. This is the biggest hang up with these engines. 5 grand in controllers on a 2 grand engine

I have never done this! I want to and member mcat4321 has with success. We talked briefly at Drag Week about the swap. From what I can remember he had a megasquirt system with a cable drivn LS throttle body on an adapter for the 727 kickdown. Try calling megasquirt they probably have the answer.

If you also want some knowledgeable answers. Ask here... http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/forumdisplay.php?f=83

There are many members on FABO who have done the swap.

This is Not possible as far as I know. You cannot hack into the factory computers. I did a 5.7/NAG1 swap and ended up buying after market computers for BOTH the motor AND the NAG1....my mistake? I did not transfer the rear axle which is where the tone rings and speed sensors are that give input for shift point rpms. This is a simplified version of a Much longer story but covers the main problem of a straight swap over

Here is a link to my effort and a lengthty discussion about the "issues"

I did a 6.1 swap and used a megasquirt system including their controller and wiring harness. Very well made and fairly easy and I hate wiring! Nice thing is you can plug it into your laptop and tune it easily. You can also have multiple files for say mpg, max power etc... if I do another, I'd use the ms3 system every time.
