What transmission takes a bearing retainer that is 5.125? I thought the 4.80 was the largest diameter

That is why I was confused. I figured the 4.80" diameter would be a no-brainer to offer in a blowproof housing. I could see an adapter to go down to the smaller size. But start at 5.125" diamter?

Maybe the 5.125" bearing retainer offers additional strenght? I prefer to run the transmission I have as is. So if there is an adapter to go from 5.125" dia to 4.80" dia then I am OK. I normally deal with stock or close to stock engine builds. The new hemi isn't close to stock and will make power (on paper anyways) up to 7000rpm. Hence my concern.

It fits a bunch of later truck transmissions as well, 420, 435, 4500, T-18, and NV4500. He doesn't need to use OD. Its just designed to give more options. Lots of guys are looking to cruise on the highway now.

If the bellhousing has a 4.8 input retainer diameter you can only run the older 833. The larger diameter opens up possibilities while still allowing the strong iron case 833.

It DOES come with the adapter to run a 4.8 input tranny, at least mine did.
