I may know where there is another flywheel if you find out that is the problem. I had a ring replaced on a GM one years ago. If you have a machine shop you trust close maybe ask them if this is an option.

FINALLY FIXED!!!!!!!!

The NAPA starters come with a nub for a gear. I went local and it came back with really nice, sharp teeth. The ends of my teeth are all a little worn now (which I attribute to the NAPA starters) but the sharp teeth on my new one engage at the base of the teeth.
