I have my build sheet and do not want it to get messed up. It is in good condition but the more you touch it the more it could get messed up. So do you Laminate it to protect it or is this a bad thing to do to it? Does this cause problems if I ever wanted to sell the car, do buyes frown on having them laminated?

Thanks

Laminating is bad. The plastic can bond to the paper & cause it to break down over time.

It also prevents the simple 'water test'.

Scan it & print a copy if you need one for reference.

Insert the original in an acid free archival page protector & store it in a safe place.

Classic! Well stated Barry! May I add "live it"? Easier said than done.

I found them. They are available at Staples. I already had some and didn't realize they were OK.

They are good for photos, copies and prints to keep the ink from sticking and the paper from deteriorating

I have a sheet that was laminated 25 years ago...

Still looks like the day it was done...

I wanted the document sealed...

Airtight...

To preserve it in exactly the condition it was(is)in when I laminated it...

If put into an acid free slip cover in a controlled environment they aren't going to degrade (not within any of our lifetimes anyway). There are no advantages to laminating a BS unless you plan on using it as a place matte or a frizz bee.

In contrast, there are negatives such as Barry mentioned. Determining it's originality becomes far more difficult, and the heated process can easily cause damage to the ink and paper (even if not apparent, it does change it).

In your case or anyone else who's already done it, once it's done it's done. Just trying to offer some advice to those who haven't made the same (IMO) mistake.

I have never protected a build sheet, but I sure have a BROADCAST SHEET!

I would debate that statement...

Together with the fact that I've used mine as neither...

But, you're certainly free to express your opinion on the matter...

As have I...

In reality it is just a piece of paper that was supposed to have been thrown away, everyone that has the broadcast sheet from their car should consider themselves lucky and preserve is as they see fit.
