So the thing runs fine when wormed up, but when cold it loads up like crazy, dosnt seem to ever clean out very well, I found that the choke is working, and I do have block offs in the heads, so is that affecting the whole thing? or is there something else I am missing. The plugs look good when hot and driving down the road it dosnt smoke. I do need to put the stiffer springs in the vacuum pods to slow the secondaries down, and I also need to add the bigger 50cc accelerator pump, but that stuff shouldn't bother the loading up idle...

I have a manual choke. I close it for the 1st 2-30 seconds then open it wide. I usually sit and run the car for a minute or 2 before I start to drive it. The 6-pack is a BIG intake and it takes a while for it to warm up. If you are using an electric choke, perhaps it's staying closed up too long. Unhook it and leave the blades open and see how it works.

So just buy the good ol Manual choke cable set up and Use it accordingly

Its got the cast manifold too, so It dosnt heat up quite as fast as the aluminum set up correct??

Well Id like to eventually go to a set of Eddy heads, and then swap to the aluminum intake, so When I do that, Ill more than likely fix a lot of the drivability crap.

I have the eddy heads and alum intake no choke however, I don't have the issues that you have described. there might be something else going on other than a choke problem. just a thought.

Although it's a 340 with an aluminum intake, I blocked off my crossovers due to the experts advice and I had to disconnect my choke and wire it open for it to run on start up. With this done, it'll start and I have to foot feed it to keep it running until it gets warm but I can drive it pretty much right away I just have to control the idle. At some point I am gonna go back and replace the intake gasket to open the ports back up, the problem I was chasing wasn't cured by blocking the crossovers and my choke worked perfectly before that move.

I used the intake block-off also and then rewound the choke to simply stay open all the time...Then babysit the engine until it's warm enough to idle on its own...Depending on the temps you could be there for minutes...As stated if the choke is hooked up and the crossover is blocked the choke is probably staying on longer than you think by then you're loading up if the RPMs aren't up...

Ill do this for sure. I know the choke is closed, and it was worm in the building the show was going on in. So with the choke closed and the temp high enough that the choke didn't need to be on Im sure that wasn't helpful at all.

The block off will definitely delay the opening. I'm wondering if your choke pull off is working and if it is adjusted properly. The pull off and fast idle speed setting is what will lead to the loading up. The manifold heat and choke spring adjustment controls the rate at which the choke comes off.
An option to the manual choke (which I despise) would be to adapt over a later model electric choke.

I will have a six pack set up on my 383... I would like to use the heat block off gaskets so.....anyone know the correct part number of electric choke kit for a Holley six pack 2BBL carb?

I just contacted Summit Racing, Yes..Holley does make an electric choke kit for the Holley 2BBL centre carb. This is the Holley Electric Choke Conversion Kit number 45-224
So... They do exist...

I am not sure that holley kit will clear the lines etc. SO,

I ordered the Holley Electric Choke Conversion Kit number 45-224 as I was told by the SUMMIT Tech guy but .......................
It isn't even close to being able to bolt on

I called Holley first thing this morning and I was on hold with there technical line for 20 minutes but the guy I talked to told me that Holley doesn't make an Electric choke kit that will bolt on to a Mopar/Holley six pack centre carburetor.
So I had some other carbs here and I removed an electric choke off an Edelbrock Performer carburetor that I had and two of the mounting bolt holes on the choke lined up with the mounting holes on the carb body, it is tight on the lower part of the choke casting but it still fit and I did remove a slight bit of material a little later once I knew the choke would bolt up.
I had to make the arm on the back of the choke about a 1/4 inch longer (centre hole to centre hole) and re-bend the Holley linkage that came with the new centre six pack carb. It all works great and the choke clears the factory air cleaner also. I will attach pictures so that it can be done, with out a lot of trouble.
