I have a world hemi block cast iron 4.49 rough bored new never used that I bought a few years ago. Was thinking of going aluminum instead. How much do you think my block is worth? Just trying to see if its worth trying to go aluminum

Thanks
Brandon

They cost between 2800-3000, when they're available. They're not available right now, so up to you.

My bud is looking for a block and he is in the same boat. He can't find a decent priced iron block. Aluminum blocks are readily available at $4950 so why would you pay big bucks for an iron block when aluminum is way better. He would be interested in your iron block if the price is fair.

I would think you could get 3500ish. At least I see them advertised for that. How available are aluminum blocks @ $5000?

That depends on what options you are looking for and what machine work you are willing to do. The only one priced in that neighborhood is HP Performance and not sure what the availability is. The Indy at that price is rough......very rough. They advertise $4399 but they need a lot of work.

The $5000 ones are ready to go with FHO modifications and HP gets about 20 at a time.

The Hemi block comes with a gold necklace and a dinner jacket.

Plus the Hemi block has a provision for the additional head studs.

They have different head mounting locations.

Id like iron block again. I have aluminum block worst decision I ever made. Horsepower robbing is aluminum is good for.

Based on what I have seen with my stuff I will stick with aluminum for sure. It MAY cost a little power but not that much. This aint the 80's anymore. My B1 makes good steam and the Predator is nearing completion and am sure it will do ok in it's aluminum block too.

Indy. Added more compression, took off 175lbs an it runs slower. lost over 6%. Talked to ring company at PRI show. He verified some blocks lose a lot more than others. Then called VP. Thought maybe was using wrong fuel. Told him my situation he verified to some blocks lose more than others.

That would be my last choice for an aluminum block. I have seen more than one that just don't cut it on the power side. They also seem to "go soft" over time. Just saying.
