Bob, great work as always. How about this ? Would you be able to take a stock B body K, make some Hemi mounts so the engine would be 1 inch lower and your fabbing like above? I need some under hood clearance ? Thanks.

Wow thats awsome work Bob!!

The next time the engine is out of mine I'll be looking you up for sure. Thats 20-40lbs off the best spot in the car.

Would adding a few holes to the K-member lighten even more without effecting the strength? My dad use to swiss cheese every part he put on his old 23-T Roadster.

Bob --

Would you be able to do one of these for a '73 Roadrunner?

Bob. Have you ever thought of welding some ultra light gauge 303 aircraft stainless sheet to form a bone stock center piece bridge over the moly bars you've got there?
I'm just loudly thinking super covert.

So did the Stainless. My friend had one years ago and through it out after it cracked in a few places.

any k frame can be lightened. just whether you want it to still retain the motor mounts or not as to what it weighs when its done.

Scott, the mounts them self (welded to k frame)are only a few lbs.
removing the center section and de-ribbing it took alot of the weight out.

and also when you add in the weight of the motor mounts them self that bolt the motor to the k frame, out weighs a set of ears or lightened motor plate, so thats even more weigh to save.
every thing starts adding up when you take everything into consideration.

ligthen the k frame
draglink
struts
steering shaft
loose the motor mounts = ET gain, as much as a 1/2 tenth

100 lbs. = 1/10 in ET

and getting the weight off where you need it off on a car thats limited to a small tire is the goal

theres so many ways to take weighed off
switch to alum or Tit (if you can afford them ) bolts in certain places (bumper and fender bolts)
ive even faced down castle nuts and drilled thru holes in bolts to help save weight
its just how far you want to take it.

heres a pic of a lightened B body steering shaft.
weighs less than 2 lbs.
