Frustrated, bought a set of Bob Mazz 2-2-1/8 A body big block 440 RB headers, the quality are awesome.. Problem is the #1cylinder pipe doesn't fit, the rest of pipes are perfects and line up nice.. , combo is 440 RB, eddy Victor 440 MW ports, with Harland Sharps, needed bigger Valve covers (fabricated) to clear rockers, but #1 pipe hits VC and collecter end is way off?? Has anyone else came across this issue ? This is holding us up for Dyno sessions., thinking this tube may be bent wrong ??

Last shot, doesn't look like much from this angle, but it would be impossible to take VC off without removing header tube, not to practical for a bracket motor,
Any suggestions are more than welcomed..
Thanks

Does the header line up right without the valve cover? Stack 4 headers gaskets together and BAM! fixed.

Mopar to the bone!!!

Well if you dont want to send them back I would cut
that tube about 3/4 of the way around at the flange
and bow it out ... is that the same tube that off at
the collector.. if it is then cut the whole tube off
and slide the collector on and line it up at the
flange with the proper angle at the VC and weld it
back up... but I've done lots of headers

My thoughts are when header flange was welded on it may have been off on the jig.. if the tube was clocked 10-15 degrees more counter clockwise when it was welded to flange it would solve VC issue and send the collecter end in accordingly. ??

Yes same tube, I think it was welded wrong, it's the #1cylinder that comes down between 5 &7, it's not right on top and below !!

Thats what I thought... cut it off at the flange and
put the collector on all 4 and line it up proper
and weld it up.... 20 minutes and your done... then
get them coated

That's what I was thinking, my understanding is that these headers are made by TTI, maybe they were built on a Monday, lol..

I run those headers on -1s and I had issues on the passenger side. A couple of tubes needed reworked.

I'm surprised that they dont do a better job on the
jig to improve this... it takes very little work to
do it... you guys that have had issues SHOULD contact
them and show some pics so they can improve the jig..
all the headers I built were built to a car so 95%
of them I didnt need to build a jig

I have a set that I will mock up on my 540 with -1 heads before I put it in, maybe tonight 'cept it is COLD down here. When I bought them Bob said not to coat them cause they would need changing. Maybe this is what he meant.

Yep.. mock them up on the engine and see if they clear
everything.. then you'll have to do the same thing
in the car... THEN get them coated.. when I build
headers I try to do it so its mech friendly.. so you
can get to everything without loosening or removing
them.. I also try to build them so they go in and out
without lifting the engine or anything else... but
the bottom line is you have to get them mounted up
or they are useless (I wont even get into equal length
and collector length)...... but if you BUY headers
and run into problems you SHOULD contact the company
with the issues and give them pics to show where the
issues are.. if they never hear from the customer that
there is a issue then they think all is good...
one last thing... every set of off the shelf headers
I have ever seen or worked on the collector is way
too short... as a general number they should be 18"
from the end of the pri tubes to the end

Call Bob and tell him or call TTI, they make them.

How is the fit with the cover off?It should have room to check the rest of the fit. Not the best fix but if you grind/cut away enough of the pipe that hits just to use it and get things done and fix it after.A 3/8" dimple may work also and fix later.Just an idea.
PS:I ran the #1 tube under the rest and it looks like you can adjust that pipe to do that if it will work for you.
