My 440-1 heads with the Indy CNC-325 ports and 2.18 intake valve flow way more on the ex than those Victors. Intake, not nearly as good.

Had Jim Leroy fix the valve job and that is the reason for the before / after. Probably should have had him put in 2.25 valves.

I saw 70 HP gain swapping my M.W. SR that flowed 340 @ .600 and .700 to my MCH CNC ported 440-1 (with the 2.250 int. valves)that flowed 370 CFM+ at the same lifts. This was with the same combustion chambers sizes, same short block, intake and carb. and no other changes other than the heads on the same dyno two weeks apart with very similar weather outside, maybe 300 ft D.A higher on the 440-1 heads Heads are a big part of making power

That`s a sweet gain and I figured my last porting, bigger intake valve and manifold work might be worth 25-30 or more based on my 3+ mph and nearly .02 in the 1/4 but I like those .600+ numbers for sure! Hopefully after dialed in Thumper`s gonna be a test bed for the new top end then some of my carb builds as I`ve already done. Great post which gives me more HP hope.................

I hate to burst your bubble, but aren't you afraid you're already about at your limit before you run over your crankshaft?

To me, both sets of heads here with flow numbers provided leave a bit to be desired. I think the exhaust percentage on the Victors is way too low and the same number is way too high on Airwoofers 440-1s.................but that's just me. Seems Airwoofers heads will be a little sluggish unless you spin the thing to the moon

Maybe right Monte as I haven't ran the 540 yet that those Indy heads are on. I think the motor will be about done in the low 7000's as it is. Jim tested the intakes with 2.25 valves just slapped in (no seat work) and picked up the flows below:

Just went and pulled one of my 2.25" test valves off the shelf and plunked it into one of your heads. Had to use one of those w/ special valve angles because your head isn't cut for the bigger valve. Did nothing but drop it in and test.

Lift...........before..........after

.100...........80............91 cfm
.200..........158..........177 cfm
.300..........227..........239 cfm
.400..........281..........292 cfm
.500..........329..........335 cfm
.600..........354..........354 cfm

That combo may actually be better for the Vortech blower instead of the B1 heads and 3.85 stroke crank that is in the 496, but right now with the 14-1 pistons in the 540 = no way.

How else do you know the limits of something until you surpass it? My crank is a stock 413 forged lightened piece but hey, I know of low 9-second cars w/cast cranks so what`s that make them?
