Car wasn't running right, switched carburators thinking it was the SV1. I found that after a pass with my 4150 that seemed way slow and lean, I found my pressure was down, and so I adjusted it. I knew it was correctly adjusted....Next pass, it was, better, but low again...Adjusted it again, and it dropped again.....

Next day, it was way too high when I fired the car up....Not sure what the heck is with it.

Drained the tank and removed the pump...filter had a bunch a gunk in it...but not enough to cause an issue...Pulled the regulator apart nothing there either...Needs a pump?

Have you checked voltage AT the pump.. if you knew
the amp draw you could check that also

In a carburated app, it should be 8-10 amps...I did find the two bolts to the wires slightly loose, but doubt that is the missing 10lbs of pressure. And its already out of the tank....

My biggest regret was running AN08 for this pump install. I wish I had put AN10 thruout like on my pro street truck...This will be expensive if there is a restriction causing the pump to really have an issue.

Double check the location and the flow direction of your pre and post pump filters.

Loose wires/connections are a no-no and if that pump needs a # 10 give it what it needs. My pump has a # 10 to the reg. and # 8`s to each bowl.

Actually your pump calls for a # 10 MINIMUM........... I`d be steppin up big time.

Just checked their site..............minimum # 10 might even work better.

You need #10 minimum in the inlet. I bet you there's nothing wrong with your old pump. Don't buy another one, unless you burned up the original by cavitation. Which happens to many pumps.

You don't need - 8 to the regulator with that pump. I have - 10 feeding it, and - 8 everywhere else. Mine makes ~800hp on e85... Should be enough fuel volume on gas for 1000hp+. that is at 22PSI fuel pressure too, So na would be even more flow at less pressure.

I run -10 to the reg. and -8 return. Feeds 1150-1200 hp no problem.

Pump inlet is at least an An10 if not a AN12....But from the pump to the regulator and then back thru the return line, its all AN08.....I have a race this weekend and really wanted to run this car. Switching to AN10 this week is not a good option to make the weekend....Not sure why the pressure drops...Its dead steady at idle.

Check their site............yes you need a MINIMUM of a # 10. When in doubt follow directions, don`t make your own and your car runs good but may run better...............

Your not using a liquid filled pressure gauge are you? If so you might want to look into draining it.

If you have a filled gauge under the hood
as the temp builds it presses back on the gauge guts
and will lower the reading.. the higher the temp the
lower the filled gauge will read.... if you have one
just drain the oil and leave it vented

that's fine and all but the car is slowing down and if the gauge was working before, Randy needs to look at the pump or pre and post filters.

When I see posts where someone finds a bunch of gunk in the fuel system I gotta ask WHY.

Drained the tank and removed the pump...filter had a bunch a gunk in it...but not enough to cause an issue...Pulled the regulator apart nothing there either...Needs a pump?

Thats true... but he also is saying that the pressure
is falling off.. we can assume they are related..
it most likely will be filter or pump or both.. and
thats assuming the gauge was working right before

Most of the gunk was the excess thread sealer used on the lid of my custom fuel cell. As I threaded the screws in, the rest must have fell into the cell. I have no post filter after the fuel pump, so anything that gets past the pre filter, 100 micron stainless, it goes all the way up...

The gauge is/was liquid, and will be replaced shortly after talking with Aeromotive. I did not know that about the liquid ones....

With that said, I am not sold that it is actually the pump, but it was really lean and this is a known good carb...It went 6.15 last week on the Duster. Its funny because I do not care for the racket the Magna Fuel makes in the Duster nor the bouncy readings on the pressure gauge, but that car runs fine.

So this carb was on another engine last week.. what
is the weight of the 2 cars and what is the difference
in rpm... did you jet it up on this car since you
think its lean

How do you know it`s lean and if the carb was on another engine, no two are exactly alike and needs to be calibrated/tuned again. Wideband?
