Actually, if the plug is too cold you have an easier time firing it, if by "firing" you mean "the current finds a path to ground". Instead of jumping the electrode gap (creating a spark between the center post to the side electrode and then to the plug body), the electrical charge follows the conductive fouling material down the porcelain to the plug body and completes the circuit without making a spark.

Mr P,would that also cause a misfire at higher RPM??
the middle plug looks good.

I forgot to say that static is 8:1 on gasoline
Look at the strap on that plug, the line is just above threads, too much timing, but the inside of the plug looks good.I have to put a few passes on a set of 9's and see how they look.

I dont think thats true... since you have very little time on them the color on the strap is up on the flat but its hard to see being new plugs... your not fat based on those pics but you say cruise is... I've never played with that single bbl carb but if it tunes like any carb then you need to lean down the idle jets and fatten up the high speed to compensate for the less idle

Are the idle air bleed only for idle or do they effect the tip in also??
They change the amount of air being sucked in through them... if they are small it pulls more fuel from the jet... so it can change tip in.... do those have all the same stuff as a regular carb like pump cams and squirters... can be the squirters to small or when they start... does it idle nice.. because a lean idle can also cause that

Also...try 7's
Think they would be too cold
7`s are hotter than 8`s in NGK`s............didn`t notice if you had a wideband or not but tuning idle, cruise and wfo can be a bear w/out one............doable yes but a bear otherwise especially if you have an off idle stumble and don`t know if it`s rich or lean.
I went the wrong WAY I put in 9's instead of 7's
Lower the number hotter the plug guys Opposite of champions n autolites

10 lbs with stockish iron heads and a siamesed iron block. It was breaking up over 6k RPM until I increased the timing to 35* and it woke right up.I had started taking timing out over 5500 RPM and it did not like that.Best pull was 9.907 @140 MPH with 35* and NGK 8's.Patrick advised me to go one step hotter and I went the wrong way I'll test again with 7's and see what happens before any carb changes.
