What kind of cam is that? I run stage VI heads and have a Doug Herbert solid roller that 272-275 @50 and 620 lift. very similar setup as yours. What size converter is in it? mines 3800 lbs and runs 10.50's - 10.60 on the motor. Very sweet. I also run 3.91 gears with a 28" tire. I know on my setup it doesnt like high revs, if I shift it between 6300 and 6800 it runs exactly the same.

The cam is Hughes 272@.050 /.620 solid lifter. I run a 4.56 gear on 30x13.50x15 MT streets. I shift at 6500 and cross at 7000.Converter is a 10" Turbo Action Nitrous 3800 that flashes to 5000 on motor and 6000 on Nitrous.

For being so close to my combo it sure seems like a lot of gear and rpm for that setup. I run a 8" coan 5000 converter. Im 400lbs heavier and have less gear same compression, my cam is a solid roller but same specs. What carb is on it? Do the heads have much port work done to them? Are they standard or max wedge ports?

That's a pretty big n/f spread using std bottle pressures in the 900 range. If that is a fresh start, I'd be closer to a 10-12 spread, 6-10* of timing pulled and start leaning it out until it slowed down. Then start feeding timing back in.
Car runs well and looks great.
I'm guessing the big spread from the higher fuel PSI ? I ran 6 lbs and had a 13 spread but prob. could have went a little more of a spread.

The Nitrous kit is a Induction Solution kit that is jetted and flowed from him, the carb is a 1000cfm 4150 from Pro-Systems jetted for my engine!
I'd send Steve a copy of your in car video where you smacked it. Sounds and acts a lot like a lean surge. You can hear it begin at the top of second gear. If you have an A/F meter see what that tells you.
You run it like that for extended periods and you'll likely hurt something. Hate to see that happen.

My Stage VI has port work but never flowed with standard ports 2.14/1.81. What are your 60ft and 660ft times? A 10" Nitrous converter verses a 8" converter may react differently in the same situation or car.

I did have Steve look at the video, but he is having a family issue and did not want to bug with this right now. I thought I would throw the problem out to you guys for your ideas. Thanks guys for your comments.Matt
Family first!

I leave off of foot brake basically from a idle, It runs 1.47 to 1.49 60'. I normally shift between 6300 and 6500 and trap at 6500. Im not real sure what my heads flow either I bought them off Ebag. They are std. port and valves. Nice car and congrats. I like to talk to people running these heads just to see how they are working for them. For all the bad you read about them they seem to work pretty good. I am running the matching M1 intake and a 1050 dominator. My converter was actually built for my ram I was racing and set up for nitrous but I havent run any on this setup.
I leave the same also off idle, has the quickest 60ft. My NA pass has a 1.46 60ft and 1.34 on Nitrous. I use a Edelbrock Victor 440 RB manifold on my low deck motor. Any pics of your car?
