Getting the wheels is a second priority right now as it will be a wheel and tire purchase as im thinking of changing the tire size to fill the wheel well more. So i will still have to hold off for now. Getting the truck running is the first priority, and for that, i will spend the money on. Oh, and the wheels the mrs. and i picked out ar American AR-23.  Im thinking 7's for the front with either a 225/75/15 or 235/70/15 and then 8's for the back with a 31x10.5/15. That should really fill thewheel wells and provide a nice ride while looking meaty.

Depends on gears, all my RCs came with 3:55's and the stock recomended tire is a 235/75/15 which is a 28.5"-29.3" tall tire depending on manufacturer.  I personally would go with a wider rim/tire combo on the rear  I am running 17x9.5's with 4.5" of backspacing and 275x55x17's

The problem is sticking with a 15" wheel is that radials dont really get much wider. Plus, the 31x10.5 is 30.5" tall and will fill up the rear wheel well really good seeing that is 32" wide. And i dont want to go to wide--i dont want them sticking out, because it will be lowered to the point the the top of the tire will just be covered by the fenders. These were my reasons for the tires picked and the wheel sizes i picked. I want to stay with 15's as the prices are really good to do the entire package of wheels and tires (under $1000)

32" wide? A 31x10.5 should be a 10.5 wide tread.
I understand wanting to keep the tire prices down, my tire package for my truck runs 700-900 dollars just for the tires.
Juat so you know, if you go to this website: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/SearchTires.jsp
and look for tires by size, when the tires come up it gives you all specs for that tire, including diameter, suggested rim width, mounted tread width, etc. check it out.
For example, a 265/75/15 is about the same size and in some cases (manufacturer) is under $100.

It is a great place to double check tire sizes since a lot of local places dont have, or dont know this info.

Opps, i just assumed to much when i was typing. The wheel opening in the rear is 32" across, the 31x10.5 is 30.5" in diameter---thus it should fill up the space when viewed from the side. I didnt meant 32" wide---sorry about that. Yes, tire rack is a great site, i prefer the catalogs i collected from various mfg's when i worked for a dodge dealer for 12 years. I always got into the specs for stuff and scavenged up various catalogs with info and specs on a number of things---its a sickness i tell you, and im going to be sorry when i have to move---all that paper weighs alot!!!

LOL I know what you mean about catalogs (kinda a specs guy myself), I did stereos for 12 years, and suspensions for 5 and still do it on the side, I still have the very first Truckin' magazine I bought in 1986! It is true, all that paper sure gets heavy quickly! Hmmm...... you worked at a Dodge Dealer for 12 years huh? you must have a lot of catalogs

Yes, i do and did have alot of stuff. Unfortunatly, some of it got discarded, and i really need to gather what i have left into one spot. My most useful ones seem to be the walker exhaust books and tire catalogs. I wish i was into trucks before i left the dealer, i could have gotten parts books as they had all the old ones and i was the only one willing to look up old stuff. Unfortunatly i was into cars at that time so almost everything i have deals with cars. I did get truck catalogs on CD from the ramcharger site though.....

I'm Baaaaack! Com has been messed up, missed y'all! I haven't had much free time tho, But nonetheless had time tonite to get on here a bit... On the solid mount thing, my experience is mostly with tube frame buggies, and V W beetles with ford engines in em....they buzz bigtime at 6000 rpm!

Only benifit i can see is more selection on wheels. But seeing that i have settled on something (i think) there isno advantage in my case---i was just thinking of future swaps.
I went to make my new taylor plug wires--but they sent 2 bags of HEI terminals instead of a bag of each style. I called them yesterday and they are sending out the right ones.
