IIRC, NHRA has to PAY espn to air the coverage. They, nhra, have no pull on what goes on with airings getting preempted, delayed.

I can not speak for NHRA but when I pay for something,I'm gonna get what I paid for and I would think as Big & Powerful as NHRA is they would be the same.
PS if NHRA is paying ESPN they need to take their $$$ some where else!

NHRA signed a contract that give ESPN total control ...including time slots and all....dont blame ESPN...

Well who else would you blame.. if it says it'll be
on at 10:00 and it doesnt happen till 12:00... its
a recorded program thats suppose to air at the time
thats called for

Wanted to watch qualifying and it was 1 hour and 41
minutes late to start behind football hall of fame entries..
the wife said the ESPN facebook page was blowing up.... GOOD

ya I just went to bed .. I think NHRA is shooting their self in the foot by messing with ESPN . with cable NHRA could get their own channel and advertise on ESPN as to when the race is ..

ESPN probably has a filter on their Email account that anything that has NHRA in it goes to Spam and is deleted...LOL

NHRA isn't a gnat on the rear of ESPN. ESPN is huge.

There are plenty of small channels that would be happy
to deal with the NHRA.... SCREW ESPN

You are so Right, and if the NHRA Officials would go to any Nascar Race they would understand just how important TV coverage is.I have been doing business with a machine shop, parts retailer in Atlanta GA for many years and they get plenty of weekend V.I.P. pass's to the Nascar race in Atlanta and I usually go once if not twice a year. There are more people there on Friday & Saturday than Sunday because of the price of Tickets. If anyone thinks Nascar does not bring in the Fans go to one.And you will see 1st hand why TV coverage is so important they pack the place, just be prepared to walk a mile because most people get there around midnight to park close to the gate. Its nice to have V.I.P. pass's because that includes Parking as well.
And the all day Sunday Races is what gets them their Fans, people that can not afford to pay for their Family to enter most events on Sunday stay at home and have Friends come over and they BBQ,drink beer and watch Nascar racing all day to have something to do.
And some may say whats that got to do with Fans or Attendance,They start watching it because its thats about all that's on,then they get hooked on it and all of them & there friends make plans to go to the Race they want to see it in person.
And when us NHRA Drag Race Fans tell them if you like Nascar you will love NHRA and what time it comes on and they turn over there to check it out and its says it on but its not! That's become one less household of NHRA Fans.

PS I am afraid if NHRA goes ever under it may be the end of our Drag Racing as we know it as well!

The coverage on the local cable comapny showed the finals to start either at 7.00 or 8.00 PM last night after the qualifying was over. I turned the TV on at 6.00 PM and the races where in the 1/4 finals I know, more than likely ESPN had EST time on there schedule information instead of having PDT corrected by our local cable company I guess when it comes to ESPN and NHRA coverage us spectator watching TV can't win

I seriously doubt that. Have you seen the amount of equipment ESPN devotes to one NHRA race? Probably more than a lot of "small channels" have total.

Exactly. ESPN is the bully on the block. They're enormous. The NHRA isn't "powerful" compared to ESPN. NFL, NBA, and MLB? They have power. NHRA? College basketball and football have way, way more power than NHRA. Women's college volleyball appears to have at least as much pull as NHRA.

It's too bad, because I enjoy watching racing, but ESPN does what they do for a $$$ reason. They're not in business to lose money.

I would not be to sure about that have you ever watched a Nascar race?
It takes 3 times if not more equipment to cover a Nascar race and its not the high & mighty ESPN covering their race.
Maybe its time NHRA took one of the smaller if they are that Prime Time network stations and invested a little $$$ in them to get them what ever they need to do it and do it right, and own their A$$ where they have a say in when & how its done.NHRA may not be as Big & Powerful as ESPN but they have enough $$$ to help a smaller station out and then when shown in Prime Time all day Sunday they can sit back and put NHRA heads & shoulders above all the other sports.

PS Screw ESPN!

LOL, the little league World Series gets more viewers than all the NHRA events combined. Be carefull NHRA doesn't make it a pay per view like boxing, the viewer rating for NHRA will drop not go up.

ESPN splits up the season with Fox and TBS, so yes, they do cover NASCAR.

if i only had a nickel for every email i have sent both nhra and espn,id retire.they both are on top of the losers list for fan support in drag racing.collegiate underwater ping pong gets more tv time .....they are both run by college preppie woosies who spend more time with their nasal tweezers than their women.and as far as nascar goes, they spend more money on an interpreter than they do on an entire nhra race.

SFI 25.5 depends,no leak,even at 213 mph....
