OK, back to truck stuff! Have ya ever asked around lookin for some parts, without any luck for a long time seemingly, and then ya hit the "mother load" really near ya? I did. I had been lookin for slant six stuff, and thru a friend of a friend, I heard of a guy that had some slant stuff layin around in a junk pile. I tried for over a month to get in touch with him, and then one day I was out at another friend's house.....guess who calls? The elusive man with the slant parts!!! Come to find out, the friend that I was with is in the model car club with him!, and the funny part was is he asked if he knew me or anything about me!....friend tells him, well we have been friends for 15 years, and he is standin right here as we speak! friend says we will be right over! As I write this, I have 1 complete late 60's low mileage engine, and enough parts to build one more plus, and a 904 auto, not to mention 3 bellhousings, several flywheels, etc etc.... I still get to go get 2 more blocks, an 833 od....oh and I bought an 8 3/4 too..... so far I am at less than 300 bucks!!! The lesson here is don't give up, mebbe ya do a lil dance when ya find what ya are lookin for, just be patient, it will come around if ya ask enough folks .... Did I mention I found a dozen more with trannies for the pullin? FREE...LOL Time to build some block and tranny racks!..and shelves...I will make room.... Patience pays! O.G.

I agree, i think solid mounts get a bad rap, but when used properly (nice smooth balanced engine assembly) they arent hardly noticable in a performance application. Now if you have a rough running and tired motor that isnt quite hitting properly on all 8 (or 6 in some cases here ) then the excess vibration will obviously transmit right into the truck. Oh, and only use a poly or rubber trans mount with solid mounts---otherwise you risk breaking the trans housing.

Wow, you got them real cheap, i think mine were $8 for each one, LOL. It surprised me the trans mount with the bracket was only $10.
I managed to get the starter back in mine with the headers already on, i got so excited of how easy it went it (old big style), that i got in and hit the key to make sure it all worked. Normally that would be ok, but i had no oil filter and no gauge hookup in the back---so yea, a couple of quarts i had in the pan ended up on the ground--doh!!!!! At least i had no plugs or wires on it to have it fire on me.
Getting close to fire up the magnum mill, just need to buy a few small parts---but the little lady and i are getting married so funds have to stretch a little.

How do i find time to work? or relax?, LOL
Worked on the truck for a bit yesterday, im almost there, ready to fire it up. Going to have to spend some money at Summit to get some parts i need--hate to do that, but she wants the truck ready for the wedding and i want some seat time in it to make sure all is well before we really get out on the road with it.
As a side note, Im really dieing to get new wheels for the truck, the ones i want do come in the 5x5.5" pattern, but im sitting here thinking maybe just converting to 5x4.5" for easier future availability on wheels (the ones i want come in either pattern)-----what would you guys do?
