Calvert perches $39
I just did Dizusters Dana tonight. Added gussets on the ends of the standard Mororso perches that look exactly like the Calvert style. Had The Miller 250 turned way up, welded a inch or so at a time and let it cool between. Doug

you don't need all that, this is the way i do it. just go to home depot and get a piece of flat stock and form it around the tube as it is welded.
All I did was add the flat stock on the ends similar to whats added on the Calvert style and welded it on. Doug

A few years ago I put Caltracs on my car. The first few launches with those crushed the axle tubes and broke the spring perches. After I replaced the rear end housing I used Calverts spring perches. They are very nice...no problems ever since. Here is a pick of my new perches with the old crushed axle tubes that were getting thrown out.

That's what I figured Installed new rear shocks and noticed something shiney in the rust
thats because all the weld is on the bracket and zero penetration on the tube
If I was to place a bet, I would agree, however we by the pic have no way to know whether the perch was prepared in the weld area with a 45 degree chamfer, not likely, but possible, and there is no visible chamfer seen in the un welded ends. The weld looks like it was maybe done in place, ie overhead stick, requiring more welding skills and probably apprehension about overheating and warping the housing?
And since the highest stressed area of this area is the weld ends, likely at one end it has the least penetration at weld start up, I unusually turn the corner and go inside the perch at the ends with the weld a bit.
No one has mentioned any warpage issues and rewelding the housing ends, after this now being the second weld up?

Thank you all for the pictures and advise Brought the car over to my friends shop.He crawled under the car on my flatbed to see what he needed to do. He showed me how the other perch was twisted. Thankfully I had a set in stock and he picked up some 1/2 inch u-bolts to upgrade the smaller ones I had. I'll bring the car back in the morning.Should take a few hours to box the replacement perches and weld them in properly with some PENETRATION!!
