Wow!! that looks great. Im just curious though, what do you think you have in it material wise? You said you didnt use a mold, did you pull the glass part off the front or back side of the original bumper?

yes the old bumper was the mold, money wise I did actually price out the materials , almost an even 100 bucks , but thats where i cheated, down the street from the shop I work at is a body shop that builds landspeed bodys for the salt flats they helped me a great deal, and they are the best!

The newer magnum 360 is now in the truck. Now its time to get all the little pieces painted and back on and get this thing running.

ok, finally got some pics for you guys.

Motor installed, still have a ton of parts to paint and put on. We went with gold as we have a tan interior, gold tailgat emblem, and will be adding gold pinstriping. The green has a bit of gold tinge in it too, so it really goes good---more streetrod type look rather than stock is what this truck will be. We painted the front half of the frame while the engine was out, and i painted the headers with my favorite POR-15 manifold gray--this stuff works good. Valve covers and air cleaner are black. We touched up al the scratches in the engine compartment and waxed it and painted the brake booster and steering column to neaten it up a bit. I will be neatening upp all the wiring and what not too as i go along.

Also bought this hinged fiberglass hard tonneau cover from another member, its meant for a 92-96 dakota, but fits the stepside very well. The frame needs some slight modifying to work, but it should be a relatively painless deal. There will have to be holes drilled in the bed rails, so this is not for the purist. All the different style dakota covers i looked at will need some modifying to fit, but they will fit. We will be repainting this a tan color that will be close to the interior.

IMHO it depends on what color the exterior and engine compartment are gonna be.

Can anyone tell me what model years of doors will interchange with my 86? Some dumb little girlie backed into my truck last night, caving in my drivers door! I don't know yet what insurance will do about it, but from previous experience, I'm not holding my breath. I looked at one local yard today. Of the three Dodge trucks they had, the only 80's model there was already missing the drivers door. On the plus side, there was a mid 70's club cab that had the dash panel with the factory tach and the volt and vacuum gauge in a wood grain. Looked in pretty good condition. If anyone is interested let me know.

81-93 will physically fit,but 87-93 doors have a different vent window.

Just thought I'd drop a line, Got some real rims for the pickup and took a new pic (NOTE:it looks way better in the pic than in real life):

Should be good until I get my steel slots redone.

I'm also considering the options of swapping in a V8,versus keeping the slant six in it. I am getting about 7-8 mpg, there is something wrong with the carb, lean burn,or both. I guess the determining factor will be after I do the ignition swap,I just need to scrounge up the right carb.

Yep, I did the GM hei module/ ford e-core coil and electronic ign slant six dist, and a 2bbl super six changeover from a leanburn. Mine has a 833 od trans, 355 gears, 235/75 tires, and I'm getting a lil better than 20 mpg......
The ign conversion is on slant six. org It was money and time well spent! Not to mention the power increase!
