72-74 was part time with a divorced transfer case

So which years have the fulltime 4wd, I see the `77 military trucks have it?

Full-Time 4WD NP203 Transfer Case rigs....
1975-1979 all dodge truck models 100-400
1974-1979 ramcharger and trailduster

1972-74 trucks used NP205 gear driven t-case which was remotely mounted(divorced), and front axles used drum brakes

1980-1993...100 thru 300 with the Dana 44 front axle used the Aluminum NP208 or NP241 transfer case, and in 1985 went to CAD axle
1980-1993 200 and 300 series with the Dana 60 Front axle used the NP205 transfer case.

All 1975-1993 had Disc Brakes

Dinuba, California, Home of the PALOMINO ranch and 440 truck farm, where dodge trucks have a home. Have Four 1979 dodge PALOMINO trucks now.

Is an 80-84 front disc brake axle a bolt in for a 72-74 truck? I suppose you may have to swap master cylinders.

As long as gear ratio is the same. They bolt in a little diff but will swap. You can also swap just the knuckles out from any 80-93 and install it on the 72-74 axle

I prefer a 70s front axle,with 80up stuff from ball joints out.
.....no axle disconnect, have lockouts, disc brakes, decent wheel bearings.best of both worlds.

88-93 would be my perfered years... here is why
1 88 start of the Cummins...
2 fuel injection on gas trucks.
3 NP241 on gas trucks NP205 on Cummins and 1 ton trucks...
Body parts exchange on 81-93 trucks Less the 91-3 rad supports...
5 727 88 / A518 89up trans Cheep if needed rebuilds
6 Dana 60 fronts on CTD and most 1 tons... must have np205 gear drive transfer...
7 full door panels and headliners and trim, on most upgraded models..
* fuse box that don't melt or catch fire like on 76-80 trucks...
9 Not full time4x4... 72-80 trucks...

I think I hit most of it...

The heater fan and the running lights fuses both melted in my 92 along with the ignition and headlight switches.
Several problems Dodge never fixed for 22 years.

Plus all the 72-93 had problems with the cowls cracking. Another problem for 22 years that Dodge didn't fix.

Chevy disc is a real conversation on the 72-74 4x4. 72-74 D100 had disc.
