Not everyone can have an enclosed trailer, and that's OK. We did it for a lot of reasons, and one of them was for sleeping overnight at the track, EXCEPT AT THE MOPAR NATIONALS" THANKS MR. BELINDA - for your tunnel vision. For many years we never missed an event that the Chrysler Classic had! I figured it out and after 10 years of racing with them, we had spent $10,000-- in Motels. So that and the terrible restrooms at National Trails and no shower was the reason we went to the enclosed. Three years ago, my wife and I went to the Mopar Deal at Maple Grove and we were all set up when this guy in an average old Mopar - Family type car pull up behind us and asked if he could park in the shade beside us, and we naturally said yes. He was a real nice neighbor and my wife and I watched in amazement as he unloaded his little tool box and bumper jack and spare tire out of the trunk. Next he got his folding chair out of the back seat and his cooler, and finally opened the hood to take off his air cleaner. This did my wife and I so much good, because it brought back those memories of how we got started in this bad habit. The best part of the story is yet to come, I believe he was running in some sort of a street class, and he would make a pass and come back showing us his time slip with the win in his lane. He actually won his class and we were so happy for him! And across the street from the both of us were the Wescotts with their big rig and two bad Mopars, but I'll bet that none of us had the pride he had when he went home and showed them the trophy that he had received after winning his class. I had an open trailer for many years but like the security and protection from the elements with my enclosed. Plus its another garage for they winter. What I miss with enclosed trailers is that you can`t see all the cool, nice cars on their way to the races and shows.

Trailers don't win races !
That's what I'm talking about b rad !
We took this picture at the top end of Bandimere Speedway, AKA Thunder Mountain, after my brother won the Wally in SST at the Divisional. I towed from Phoenix, he towed from Tulsa. When I started traveling to Nationals and Divisionals in 2001, SST and Stock were pretty much the only guys with open trailers. By the time I stopped in 2008, I was pretty much the only one. Guys would show up with a stacker and two cars, and expect two pit spots, then they would pull me in and tell them, "You get 1 1/2, and he gets 1/2 a spot 'cause he's just going to work off the back of his trailer". They would huff and puff around for a couple hours, giving me an evil eye, until they figured out what a great guy I was...

That's a nice rig compared to what one of the local bracket killers uses. This guy pulls his Mustang with a rotted out chevy van on looks like a home built trailer that I couldn't get out of the drive way with. He has a 69 Mustang fast back that's painted (nice)now. But several years ago it was multi color and looked like crap, runs high 7s in the 1/8 but he knows how to dial it and it runs what he puts on the window, plus he's death on the tree most of the time. I'd bet he has won more money in this area than anyone has by a wide margin. About ten years ago he won three races in a row, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at three tracks none the less, he put $15000 in his pock that week end. He took about five years off but is at it again, no one want's to line up against him . Cool, laid back good ol country boy, but he will stripe your a$$ if you're not top of your game.
