I personally wouldnt paint it after cleaning. Paint seals the aluminimum and will make the trans retain some heat. As we know, they wernt painted when new.

I'll respect your opinion, however, not so sure about the correctness of the term "seal", however a case might be made it insulates it, how much, I suspect not much, I suspect a coat of oil/grease/grime might insulate it more, and being painted would be easier to clean, and while we are splitting hairs, a black color will radiate more heat then a lighter color, and lighter color will reflect more heat from hotter nearby surfaces, all to the point, can't believe the OP would ever notice any difference no matter what he chooses.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I couldnt imagine it would make much difference, I've seen others also have them painted, even though I do realize they didnt come painted. Figured it would look better than the way it is up against my bright painted engine! Maybe the better question is, has anyone out there ever had problems because of painting theirs?

Sealing the pores of the aluminum casting has the benefit of keeping grime from penetrating the pores...makes it easier to keep clean. I doubt if heat retention is an issue, radiators are painted.

Pro shops coat the trans to cover up the stains in the aluminum that won't come out with normal cleaning...nobody wants to pay big bucks for an ugly transmission even if it's only cosmetic.
