" Matter of fact when I had that small trans shop over in Lancaster CA (Pro Trans) do some updates on my old Lofgren 727, he said run it! "

I would say that carries some weight.

Trans-Synd

I purchase that by the barrel at work. It's factory spec for Allison automatics used in class 8 big rigs. I've often wondered how it would perform in smaller units.

My brother and I have always used the ATF+4 as we both worked many years at Dodge dealers and we have a nice stock of the ATF+4. But its worked fine for us and the trans and clutches look like new when we tore his down. Ron

Same here.... been using Mopar +4 for ever. Matter of fact when I had that small trans shop over in Lancaster CA (Pro Trans) do some updates on my old Lofgren 727, he said run it!

That stuff was designed to protect clutches during slippage w/ PWM (pulse width modulated) shifting and lock up converters. Probably not needed with high throttle pressures, but it couldn't hurt. Ya got me thinking about it.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

I think it's the opposite, in a race 727 ATF+4 works OK because of the higher line pressure.

Its basically hyd oil(10 weight) which is what a trans
is(a hyd unit) but the trans fluid has different items
added to the fluid like anti foaming and cleaners

B&M Trick Shift...5 bucks a quart. The stuff has been around forever. Here in calif. type F is almost non existent and if you do find it, they want over 8 bucks qt. And in my area...wal mart included, Tognotties, parts houses, nobody stocks enough of it. Call me hard headed...I've used type F in all my race stuff for 35 years...if it ain't broke!don't try and fix it....Lol

There fixed it for you.

I use john deer hy-gard purple label in my stuff. MAKE sure if you use it, you have a brass filter NOT a cotton one.

Why? I run john deere hy-gard and run cotton filter because of my aluminum drums. I have no problems.

To these people running blankets and getting over 230* I would look in to your convertor. I would run a 8" 4800 stall convertor and stroud blanket and would see 180* at end of pass of trans brake.

Also curious as to why the reasoning for a brass screen filter when using Hy Guard.

67dartgt how long have you been running the cotton filter/w aluminum drums? Cause I also run the aluminum drums in my trans and am considering the hy-gard fluids......
