I have been using type F fliud in my trans for years with excellent results, and this latest teardown has once again proved that, buttttt, it is getting almost impossible to find it around here lately and was what fluid would be a good alternative,,no synthetics please.

Bill I made the switch away from type F years ago and now use walmarts house brand (pretty sure its Castrol) but if you still want type F another option is to have it shipped to you. Some even offer FREE shipping. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&key...sl_7qnnjwt1xc_b

Why not? A good synthetic ATF holds up to the heat better.
it is also slipperyer and the trans guys that I know have told me that under racing conditions clutch's and bands don't grip as well, yes it is great for high heat conditions and street driven vehicles.
FWIW, I've had really good result with this in a heavy 10 second street strip car.

I do know guys that run the redline products and like them, I also know guys that use Amsoil products and like them also, I am not going to bash the products because if they weren't any good they wouldn't be in bussiness, I know a racer that has a trans shop and I know he experemented with the synthetics and he didn't like the results, he is one of the guys that told me those products have their place but he went back to dino fluid, street/strip may be fine, but i want to stay with what I know works.

I went through this with a counter guy at one of the places that didn't have type F. He was trying to explain to me that "today's" transmissions needed the type fluid he had in stock. I explained to him, that my transmission wasn't one of the "today" units. It was a '60's-'70's type that had always worked fine with type F and that was what it was going to get.

I just switched over to ATI's Super F. It is a synthetic but no noticeable difference in performance in the Stocker.

I asked Jim paquette, who owned and ran JPT( Jim's performance transmissions) his whole life until retiring recently about tranny fluid for 727's 10 years ago or so when he built the tranny for my ex car. He said to stick with type F, and preferred pennzoil type F as his favorite. He did pretty much all the C4/C6 Ford stuff for anybody who is somebody in stock and super stock for years and years nationally. His brother Ray campaigns a thunderbolt in SS/B, and has forever. I trust his knowledge more regards trannies than anybody. So if he says only type F, I would give that opinion considerable weight
