I can't post mine from work, but I started detailing out some parts. Takes a while. I figured I would post on here as Grab CAD only has a few and they are brand X...

I am going to 3D scan a W5 head, so I can have a play around with it. Maybe one day I will make a billet 18* head.

Almost all of my stuff is in Solidworks models, but it is all small block stuff. I haven't modeled a block or heads, but all of the interfaces have been modeled with bolt patterns.

I know there is a library in the SolidWorks site for CAD models submitted on there. I don't recall any engine parts modeled for Mopars. It would be neat to have a place on Moparts where people could upload models. I'd prefer people to post STEP files to make it easier for those that don't have access to SW. I haven't had any problems bringing in STEP or IGES files into any CAD program. I find the STEP files to be smaller than IGES and I don't think IGES is updating their conversion kernal.

I'm all for something like this happening. We need someone to upload block models and I agree, STEP files work well with every software package. I would love to take a stab at designing some cylinder heads for the new hemi engines. I'm sitting on 8 BBM cylinder head prototypes right now. They will be revealed very soon with a kickstarter project to gain support for their production. Stay tuned!

If anyone has any cylinder block models for BB or SB, can they upload or send that file to me. Just PM me for my email.

Didn't Hot Rod Magazine recently have the blue prints for the Hemi Block shown in a recent issue? You could make a model from that if it's complete. I'll have to look that up and I could model it if it's all there.

I have an F1-R ProCharger kit, the cog belt style, for a small block. I'm going to be selling it. Its only been mocked up on a block. It would be great for getting dimensions from

.
It was within the last 2-3 issues.
Here's a link to part of the article showing one of the prints for the heads. I highly doubt all the prints are there to build a model from, but I'll look again.

There is a lot more to that head drawing than that one view. A friend, Stewart, scanned that drawing and sent me a copy in sections. I think the original drawing is about 8'-10' long, probably 44" high. The auto industry doesn't seem to believe in multiple sheets. I worked a contract gig with Atco Products last year and we did some replacement parts for Ford and the drawing format was 44" x 72". All sorts of views all on one sheet.

Agreed. I don't think you're going to get a complete set of drawings for a block or head from anyone. I used to work on turbine blade designs for Pratt & Whitney and there are many drawings for a cast part. The easiest method would be to 3D scan a block and/or head and create the model from that. You still wouldn't have the internal passages for the cooling fluid but at least you could have a nice model of all exterior features. I was visiting a company a few years ago when I was looking at buying a 3D printer for the company I work for and they demonstrated how they could scan a part (Holly dominator main body in this case) and create a solid model from it. Pretty neat technology.

As stated Automotive drawings are very long I have a couple of complete brand X engines, and they are probably 20ft OAL and I just put the machine into auto fold, and it makes a book out of them or you can leave them as a roll. I actually have a few of them scanned as well, just no Mopar ones.

I started my BBM model and the oil pan and timing cover bolt holes are all pretty good, but I do not have the valley, the head deck, and oil & water passeges detailed. When the weather turns bad for winter again I will resume my little project.

So if someone has a model of their Mopar parts I would be willing to trade as I detail mine out further. Obviously its a lot of work. Place up the road will scan a block for about +$350 or so...I should have them do one of my Hemi heads this winter.

Yes it is. I'm a machinist/CNC Programmer. I use SolidWorks and CAMWorks. I make a lot of my own stuff. I always wanted a 3D model of a BBM so I could mock up more of my ideas.

I would be interested as well, I had a few things modeled, but lost the harddrive.

Having a block scanned would be great, maybe some folks would like to chip in and split the costs, if there was enough interest.

I'd be in for $50 of the total costs.

Also, I have the head deck modeled with bolt holes , bore locations, oil passage location, water passage locations, and dial pin locations. Shoot me a pm with your email and I will get a step file to you.

I will be scanning some small block stuff when I get time to do so. I intend on doing a head, block, and timing cover at some stage this year. I am also going to do a 904 trans case while I am at it. Might do some intake manifolds if I can get my hands on them.

Emails sent guys.

Also, could you please let us know once you get the SB and transmission stuff scanned. That would be awesome to have.

I can't open step files without someone helping me convert it to a parasolid x_t, which works best for our current 3D program.

I am in for sharing CAD drawings, both dwg and 3D.

I have the ability to convert stp to XT files. You may also want to look at downloading a file converter online. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few free softwares available.

I can export adriel's step files to a 3d dwg or any other autodesk program if needed.

Don't know when I will get to scanning everything, it will be sometime later in the year I would imagine.

Thanks for the offer to help me with exporting to X_T and 3D DWG, which both works well for Vectorworks.
I have a college at work who can export files from SW 2012 for me, only problem is, the solids turns into generic solids and increase in size, so we almost always makes new solids from the old ones.

Maybe everyone already got these, but I have had good use for them for both mid plates and motor plates. Three PDF with dimensions of the block.

I tried to attach a SW file, but it wouldn't take it. We will have to find another place to upload them. Here is a JPEG of the part.
