Guess the question should really be two questions; "do I use gloss or semi gloss paint on A12 H-wheels to start with and to get OE finish/look how do I prep the wheel for paint?"

The paint for '69 A12 H-wheels should always be gloss IMO....the prep and finish is up to you

(this question and "opinion" will go on forever and ever, like wingnuts, fender tags and the direction of the SIX PACK hood scoop decal )

Yes, you will get the same comments from the same people if you ask the same people the same question.

Once again, yes, you will get a semi-gloss finish if you spray a light coat of gloss paint over bare steel.

We all are saying the same thing, including you; the paint used was gloss paint...the appearance (due to prep) wasn't "as glossy" as the exterior of the car.

...that's why I linked the thread in the tech archives; it's all been said and I'd rather link it than say it all again.

Exactly. This is why I didn't even get in on this thread. It has been said and it is already known, why, what, and how these wheels were painted. In fact with all the date codes, manufacturer stamps, sizes, etc, etc , etc. I would say there is more known and established as fact about 69 1/2 H wheels than anything else on these cars (except wing nuts!!!!!!)
