ah, your right. dead gauge even with power to vr means you don't have power at the sending unit.

so it isn't a ground issue.

and yep now you have to take it out.

My cluster is very nice i.e., i don't need relettering, needle painting, etc... I just need the water temp gauge and fuel gauge fixed and a new limiter.

Anyone know anyone who could turn this smaller type job around quickly (hoping not to lose the car for months waiting... in fact just trying to fix as I planned on selling it soon). It's a very nice car though so I'd be dumb not to fix before selling.
