I put 1 on my old 81 Shorty. You could feel the difference in the steering wheel when going around corners.
I am truckless..

I can see using one on an off-road 4x4 but how much difference will one really make on a street truck? Curious.
have someone turn the wheels lock to lock at idle, not moving while you watch the how much the box/frame flex under load.
a front sway bar and the brace really firmed up both of my trucks handling in turns and a big improvement for daily driving street duty.

Going to give Summit Racing's repackaged "whatever" paint a shot on this one (after all my kid will be driving it).
That's exactly the paint I'm using. Actually nice to shoot. Nice finish.

Just curious. Will a big block brake booster not work???
still hits. I ran those covers on a low block and I had to unbolt the booster to get the cover off.

anything else good on those trucks?? the small booster is what it would have with a B or RB enegine with stock late mid 70s smogger VC (not the HP tall penthouse VC) still tight on R&R of VC. on the mid 80s trucks you can go to the 86 3/4 ton vac booster which is a small one that has the alum 2 bolt MC. it has been 'said' that you can hammer on the bigger pancake booster to get it to fit a BB in there... but that always looks like a chebby goober with a BFH has worked on dodge.

Bigblock booster is the small diameter. Same that 3/4 tons run and some halftons came with them

There was an '84 Ram with black booster and 2 bolt MC. My understanding is, even with the smaller booster, with (non-factory) tall valve covers you may have to relocate everything up to an inch further away from the engine???
Black booster? For a 440 you just need to swap in a 3/4 ton booster of the same era truck. All 3/4 tons use the small diameter booster which in the 70s was the same used for 440 trucks. the 383/400 B-Blocks can use the big diameter but tall valve covers may be an issue

I've been giving some thought to putting on a hydroboost system instead of a booster. First off its a lot smaller (No valve cover problems) and the brakes are way more responsive, especially if you put discs in the back or upgrade to larger discs all the way around. I had this on my 67 Coronet and it was a night and day difference on stopping performance! [image] [/image]

Dude you have been busy! That's looking great! What are you doing for wheels? I'm selling my cop car wheels and tires.
Thanks - I've got a set of 16x8's like the ones on my Duster but we were thinking of running black steelies on the rear with some Mickey T's or something - but tell me more about what you've got.
