Hey guys, I have couple questions. I have '68 Coronet 500 that I plan to paint LL1 Turquoise rather than the original puke green. Does anybody have a modern paint code for it? Who has the best color match in BC/CC? I'm planning on changing the top and interior to white rather than the original... you guessed it, puke green. I've found one pic of a Turquoise car with a blue and white two-tone interior. Was that available in 1968? What parts would be blue instead of white? Does somebody have a paint code for the interior blue paint? If anybody has some pics... I'd love to see them. Thank you

That is such a nice color combo. Probably my favorite on a 68 charger.

Yeah I may have been a little harsh... Don't get me wrong... I'm not a green hater. I probably wouldn't change the color is was the dark racing green offered in '68. But this car is the color of guacamole And my '71 Charger parts car sitting next to it is also triple green. I surrounded by green except where it counts (my wallet).

That car is beautiful... that is exactly how I would like the color to turn out. Do you remember which brand of paint was used, was it basecoat/clear coat or single stage?
What color is the carpet, dash and headliner in that car?
With the white interior, the following:
carpet = black dash = black headliner = white
This particular car was base coat / clear coat. Not sure about the color formula. The paint shop just looked up LL1 for Dodge and '68 and did it....

I haven't found a modern code for LL1. We use Sikkens paint at work and our mix database doesn't go back to the 60's. I don't have a problem buying the paint elsewhere... but that removes the luxury of mixing up a small batch and doing some spay-outs to see what it looks like it real life.
When I get my new wider steel wheels later this year... I was planning on spraying them LL1 to remind of my goal of getting the entire finished and painted.
I remember the day I got pictures of the door jambs and trunk area with the fresh paint on it while I was in Iraq. It was awesome to see that fresh paint.. Almost made me forget about the mortars that were dropping on our unit..

My former 68 Roadrunner was LL1. I had my paint shop mix it off the PPG codes. I'm not overly sure if Plymouth LL1 was the same as Dodge's LL1, but either way, your paint supplier should have the code in PPGs inventory. I have pictures somewhere I'll try and dig up. Cheers Dave

Yeah at this point I need to find a local store that carries PPG and at least get the mix formula for the paint in PPG. I was able to confirm today that Sikkens has no formula for LL1.
One of our painters at work is certain he can mix it with Sikkens if he has the mix formula for PPG, because it will allow him to cross-reference all the various colors and toners.
I may be easier to just go buy PPG paint but nothing beats having a buddy who is a painter that will spend the time to tint the color and do spray outs until I'm happy...
