Well, it cranks over fine, does pop and spray alittle out the carb. When it does start, it's bearly running with my foot on the floor. Changeing a timing chain shouldn't be this difficult! Hey Goat, if you could check on a distributor and ignition system so I can eliminate my computer, that would be great!

Assuming you didnt remove the ditributor to change the chain, I wonder if someone previous had the distributor set to compensate for the slack chain and now with a tight chain its out of time? Just a thought.........

Great news! The old girl is running again, 80% better than it ever did. The problem was the plugs were fouled out. Put a fresh set in and it she fired right up! I guess the first clue should have been she's been running rich for a long time. Anyway, made some adjustments and she runs much better. I say only 80% because it's as good as I can hope for a 20 year old truck with (I hope) 140,000 miles and a junk bbd 2bbl carb. I really hate those carbs. Never seen a good one. Wish I had a 4bbl. Anyway, thanks for all the advice. There is really a great bunch of guys here. Have on me!

Way to go page 11! Feels good getting the truck running. Still bogs a little when I hit it hard but it is way better than it used to be. I thought someone was working on a smiley?

Well days like today will make ya old!
It all started out in Dallas at 7 this morning, had 4 slabs of granite loaded on a trailer, was goin down 635, and a slab broke, scattered all over the hiway, cars dodgin left and right, nobody hurt, but lost a 1000 dollar slab...
Then I went and got another one, made 3 other stops to pick up a few odds and ends.
I stopped on I-35 to check the load at a picnic area, and locked the keys in the truck...truck running, with my cell phone in there too...
borrowed a cell to call the office, and they got me a lockout guy to come let me in the truck...
arrrrgh.....and then I went to OKC for one more stop...made it back to Amarillo at nine thirty tonite...arrgh!

Even over here by Abilene I know that OKC is not on the short route from Dallas to Amarillo. LOL Back when I lived in Garland I was cruzin down 635 one time on the Honda 500-4 bike I had, when a truck fifty yard in front and one lane over blew a tire on his trailer. I think I only got hit by two little chuncks of rubber but I nearly needed to go and change my underwear.

friend of mine got hit by a blown tire once took him right off the bike , he allways said it was the PILE in his pants that saved him , the bike decided to teach the Trailer a lesson by throwing itsself under the rear wheels poping 2 more tires. all in all it was a day to remember.
