i'd call tim at FHO. at least chat with him and get up on some of this. i wanted to build the engine myself, but didn't want to mess around with mis matched components, as this seemed a one shot deal for me as well. tim and i spent a lot of time talking about exactly what i wanted, and then he bundled up all the main parts and sent them off to me. couldn't recommend him more highly, his quality and customer service are the best!

Exactly.
I've only got one shot at this.
I Need to get it right the first time.
You should be able to do it easily for that price but I wouldn't fool with 426 cubes.
Starting from scratch they all cost basically the same so for me it's go big or go home for a cruiser.
You could easily build 600+ hp on 87 regular gas that wouldn't need steep gears or a big converter.

A Gen III factory crate. You won't have to worry about the builder, the parts, or the quality of the build.
Since you needed to ask and all you're doing is throwing it on your MasterCard, it's your easiest and safest way to go.

If I had $20K available for a Hemi motor, I would buy one of these and save $2,250.00 so that I could buy a good single Dominator, 727 trans, converter, exhaust & ignition. 572" 650hp on one four barrel. http://www.jegs.com/i/Mopar-Performance/312/P5155431AB/10002/-1?parentProductId=1943935

No truck motor.
And since you brought it up...
I'm not putting it on my mastercard.
I'm taking it out of my savings account.
You know, that thing a person spends years and years working to build up, hoping someday they can afford to ask a question like this one.
Wait a minute...
YOU might not know what that is....
