Looks strange to see a CrewCab with 5 bolt wheels... I think all the Crews I have seen are 3/4 or 1 tons.

Good looking Truck. Can you save the cab. The door looks bad but the cab doesn't. Nice deal $2500 eh

Sam, do ya think half ton spindles will support the weight of a CTD? My hopes are to have a lowered, shortbed regular cab truck, and I really dont want to have to run 3/4 ton wheels. I already have a Dana 60 that is 5 on 4 1/2...I know I will have to run way heavier front springs.
I am just kinda spooked about runnin half ton spindles with that much weight up front.
Bill

well, I don't know that question, I do know that they weigh at least 400 lbs more than a 440. you might be able to run a special setup(3/4 ton spindles with custom rotors) or something similar...

it's a 3/4 ton, the prior owner wanted 1/2 ton suspension to have it low to the ground.....it's all comming off so to speak.....the cab and bed are going to be going to the 3/4 ton diesel chassis...

the cab could be saved, but I am going to be putting the 4 door cab on that frame, along with the short bed.

6 of one, half dozen of the other. it is what you prefer. The manual transmission will allow engine braking, and will yeild more mileage. The getrag 5 spd which I am using is a good transmission, but you have to keep it over full by 1 quart. The 518 will need to have a good cooler on it for it to last. like both combinations, the only thing I don't like with the manual is the gear split, too much gear seperation between 2to3 and 3to4 when pulling a big load.

Guess I will be doin bench work on the truck for awhile. Gettin a super six setup ready to go. So I probably will end up detailing the manifolds while I am down. Sure I will be better soon, cause I aint THAT old, lol!
