That's a great engine for your car. Like your colour coordination and detailing. That' engines certainly going to make things entertaining

Beautiful car! If the motor makes 980 hp, and the race weight is 2500 even, the calculator says 8.00. Based on some other builds similar, it ought to go 8.25 or better!

Mine works there, but I have a special baffle built into the top of the valve cover to help separate oil out. As I recall, it turned out to be the best spot for my motor.
I hope it works here too, yes there is a baffle under the cover.
I am anxious to see how well it runs too!

I hope it does work for you Forest. I only ask because there is a LOT of oil that gets caught up top in a B1 deal, not like with an Indy or stock type head. We had mine there once as well and it would suck a fair amount of oil. We assume it was under decal at the top end. But the baffling and fitting inside the cover will play a roll as well. The best thing we did was got to a Star vacuum fitting in the cover.

The 440-1 heads will do it but not near as bad as the 572&600-13 they are worse because of the spray bar oiling.But I do not think it pulls out enough extra oil to hurt anything other than the mess it makes misting your engine with oil out of the filter on top of the recovery tank.Now I do not know about the rest of you but I do not like tying a shop rag or putting a wrist band over the vent filter.Now on all of my engines I use the Moroso vacuum canister for both the vacuum pump & dry sump and block the top hole and plum into the bottom and no longer have a problem.
