Saw his work on CBS News This Morning!

They had his work "Buff" showcased in the studio at the beginning of a piece on graffiti artists!

Thought I would post in this section as that's where I see him post.

Thats neat, in 78 he was part of the "Scurge of the City" for doing that graffiti and now he was asked to recreate that "Buff" Graffiti painting.

Id watch out If I were him, They are really just trying to close some old Cold cases.

We have two old Hoodlums on board, Lee{Fullmetaljacket} and Dom{Thumperdart}

Congrats Lee, and Happy Birthday Dom,

Very cool. I've always appreciated the artistic side of graffiti. Someday I'll have a piece in my home.

Lee was (is) one of the OG's.

I was a 'writer' myself in my younger days. It's beyond cool to see him hanging out here on Moparts talking cars.

NYC in the 70s and 80s was a pretty rough place. The Bronx was like the wild west. Graffiti was art imitating life. Some people saw it as a symbol of decay but I think it was kids reacting to their surroundings.

NY now is squeaky clean and homogenized, kind of like a big, expensive mall for Euro trash. It's all foreign money now. Regular people can barely afford to live here anymore. Sometimes I miss the old days where you had to be on your toes a little. It's lost a lot of it's character.

Again, hats off to Lee for being recognized by the straight art world and getting national TV exposure.

Some bodies got me mixed up with some other dude.....

LOL.

I guess the cat's out of the bag, no more running into phone booths to change. LOL.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

In short, I honed my skills and intuition to make way and pave a path most did not think I could ever achieve or believe in.
Welcome my friends to the worlds first global art movement. It has many moving parts, so there is room for contention and invention.

Coming from New York that was then and is now, it's appropriate to say the following: "Just because things are right now, doesn't mean that they were wrong back when".
Sometimes the life of an artist never seizes to amaze it's own practitioner.

I really like the piece behind you in this post

My brother in law is a painter by trade and has been
commissioned to paint some graffiti style that he
does on some big dollar places here in Detroit...
one was for Kid Rock

Thank you Cole, I've got one of those recordings from Blade. He also blessed me with a CD collection. Masterful Hendrix type stuff. A blast to listen too.
Blade has a vintage original owner 72' Thunderbird in his garage.
Fortunately, I saw the light and went the Pentastar route. Dodge to be exact. LOL.
P-body, you should peep the multi-level garage on Library Street off of Woodward in downtown Detroit where there have been a number of massive Graffiti inspired murals commissioned through out. Mind boggling.
This Summer, I'm about to commence on something down there that's F'n pretty cool. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hi Lee. You guys only scraped the surface of what this hugely-modest guy has accomplished. He is such a great dude, I only wish every member would know that from first-hand experience. When I brought Big Willie to the Mopar Nats, Lee brought some of his crew that raced with Willie. They traded many stories that weekend. Brought tears to my eyes many times that weekend.
