Got any more pics you would like to share?

I ran a new personal best today at WHPMP (formally Firebird, now Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park) at 10.66@126. No changes to the car, this was all due to the resurfaced track. The scales were open and this was also the first time I scaled my car: 3839lbs with a full tank of gas and my 217ish butt in the seat. Using the online calculators my stock stroke, stock block, TRW, Purple Shaft 440 is making around 625hp (with a little N2O)!
Saw your car there yesterday. Beautiful. We actually ran in the same class ( 10.99 and faster ). I went out in the second round when I broke out ( went 10.62 on a 10.68 dial - 127.27. Although the track is very nice, it's all about prep. We ran there last Friday night and it was an ice skating rink. Again, congrats on your runs and a beautiful car.

I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably never bother with another friday night ever again… I'm going to only plan on making it to ACTUAL races. I'm done with the friday night foolishness.
I rather liked the track on friday nights when we ran those "Hot Teams" heads up deals.... kind of threw another angle to the race results, but I do agree.... the crowds of fwd stereo thumping fart pipe cars strewn about the staging area was a bit annoying.

I miss the Hot Teams. Heads up racing is a lot more fun than brackets, and that was an interesting format.
I don't see me running many more FNDs either. The daytime events are more conducive to the family. This was my first attempt at bringing my little girls (2.5 years and the other is 2 months). I wanted to actually compete, but the family got tired around 1pm. I see an RV in my future if I'm going to continue with this hobby.
It was a fun event with a nice mix of cars. Quite a few MOPARs and a 1970 twin to my car. I intended on swinging by his pits and snapping a few pics, but ran out of time.
Thanks for the compliments!
Later,
Greg

The "new" friday night "crowd" is mainly clueless about how things are supposed to work at the track. They don't recognize lane designations, they don't know where the starting line is. They certainly don't want anybody trying to explain it to them, and they REALLY don't like the idea of any rules being in place. The "spectators" don't care where they park their cars, or even want to acknowledge that the "racers" might even have a pit spot… you know, where all their stuff is when they are in the staging lanes? There doesn't appear to be any organized attempt to educate any of them about how it's supposed to work either.
I'm old and crotchety, but should simply know better than try to occupy the same place as all the idiots. So it's "race only" dates for me… because only getting 2 passes in when you can count on the track prep is still way ahead of rolling up to the line after some FWD street wheenie has brought a bunch of water to the line.

Nope....nothing changed on friday night then! It was hell trying to get paired up for hot teams. The staging lanes were basically a "hangout" for the hood up ricer crowd. Lines.... we don't need no stinkin lines!
....I did actually like walking throught there, because just once in awile you'd find a group of "yung uns" that actually had some pretty neat/fast home built rockets.
I have absolutely nothing against the younger crowd, and they certainly have some neat / fast home built rockets. The chaos at the starting line ain't all their fault. For one thing, the lanes are still not marked - Duuu! Also, just not enough starting line control - tracks fault also. In the same breath, there was one lane designated for slick cars only and announced as such. Some of the kids ignored it( or didn't know where lane 1 was ) and the track didn't police it - nor did they police the water box. From what I could see ( I sat first in line in lane #1 for a while ) the starting line personnel were just overwhelmed. Way too many people just running loose up there. After my second ( aborted) pass it was time for me to leave. On the plus side, I don't think anyone got killed. To Wildhorse - MARK THE F--KING LANES. Get a grip on the Friday night drags - - before something tragic happens. Seen some "stock tired" cars running in the 135MPH range.

Good job greg, car did good in the heat. Too bad we didn't get to line up
Right back at you Tony! Did you see the times on the winners for the Heads Up Street Legal Class? 10.50's! We could have given them a good run. There are some really cool pics of your car on AZ Autoscene ( http://www.arizonaautoscene.com/ )

Hey I went 4 rounds, dialed 10.59 and ran a 59, a 61, a 59 and a 60, lost with a 10.60 on a 10.59 dial because my reaction was .081.
That's pretty awesome! Saw your car too from a distance. The track must have held up well. Know who won in the 10.99 and faster class and how many rounds?
There were 4 cars left after I went out so 6 rounds total, the dragster won.
